Organizational Setting

The main aim of the Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO’s) Representation in Tajikistan, which is headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist the Government of Tajikistan to develop policies, programmes and projects to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind, in line with the Organization’s Strategic Framework and United Nations’ global and Government of Tajikistan’s national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Tajikistan, with the technical guidance of Field Security Coordinator by providing advice and clarifications on security plans and security rules.

Technical Focus

Security Guard provides security related services in a FAO Tajikistan/Projects offices ensuring the security, safety and protection of the FAO staff and guests while inside and around the office premises, including all of FAO assets/facilities/properties, from injury, damage, loss or threats to the standards of diplomatic and embassy security officers.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Patrols and maintains security of the office premises and territory, including overnight guard duties;
• Responds to emergencies affecting the safety of the premises and notifies supervisor, re-enforces access control system to FAO premises;
• Opens and closes the building, prepares daily reports to the Security Focal Point;
• Checks that all office machines, air conditioners, lights, etc., are turned off after working hours;
• Controls admission of authorized personnel and movements of FAO property into and out of the premises;
• Controls admission of visitors to the reception room and performs registration of visitors;
• Within the TOR of the Quick Reaction Force Team, reacts immediately, within minutes, to any emergency situation, which might jeopardize security and safety of the FAO staff, premises & assets;
• Irregularly checks FAO guards teams, deployed in different FAO premises;
• Provides first-aid when necessary;
• Performs other duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Complete secondary education, university education is an asset;
• At least three years working experience in security position (s) in which trustworthiness and sound and quick judgement have been demonstrated;
• Good knowledge of Tajik, Russian and limited knowledge English;
• Valid driving license of category B;
• Nationality of Tajikistan or resident in the country with a regular work permit.

Technical/Functional Skills

• Extent and relevance of experience in Security management preferably within the United Nations System
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Preferably experience with international organizations/projects/programmes;
• Typewriting skills and computer literacy is an asset;
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to maintain good working relations with colleagues;
• Affinity with the mandate and role of the United Nations and FAO.
