Mission and objectives

UNDP is seeking to address challenges faced by the young people through Shabab+, a regional project for the Arab states, that will facilitate both economic and civic empowerment of youth. This regional project builds on UNDP’s Youth Leadership Programme of recent years, taking on a systems approach to youth economic and civic empowerment in the region. It enhances institutional capacities and ensures horizontal and vertical coordination across state institutions, non-governmental bodies and youth themselves, which is critical to ensure that all stakeholders are working in harmony towards a shared vision for young people.

Context

Harnessing the growing potential of the youth population and enabling young people to become agents for positive social, political and economic change is critical for building forward and enhancing resilience to future shocks, connected with pandemics, climate change and conflict, among many others. This requires a whole-of-society approach that strengthens the social contract and widens participation and inclusion. Central to this is the need to unleash the human potential of the youth in the Arab region to create capabilities in the system for innovation, purpose, shared value creation, and the realization of new futures for the achievement of the SDGs.

Task description

We are looking for three motivated Online Volunteers with previous experience in methodical and analytical research to support the Regional Youth Project through conducting qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Online Volunteers will be requested to read and analyze project documents, scanning for keywords and indicators in order to identify priority and focus areas, patterns and investments in youth components across the countries under the Regional Bureau for Arab States. Online Volunteers will map the relevant data into a custom-made table with the support of the team.
