Background

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

The Unstereotype Alliance is a thought and action platform convened by UN Women, that uses advertising as a force for good to drive positive change. It seeks to eradicate all harmful stereotypes from advertising and media content. With a focus on empowering people in all their diversity (race, class, age, ability, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, language, education, etc.) to help create a gender equal world, the Alliance brings together a powerful global coalition of private sector leaders behind the common goal of eliminating gender bias and harmful stereotypes from their advertising.

To create a practical and enforceable way to achieve real global change, the Unstereotype Alliance implemented its National Expansion Programme (NEP) to activate the Alliance’s mission at a local and country level. The UA Secretariat hereby seeks to recruit a Project Coordination Analyst to assist with the strategic and operational development of this workstream.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Unstereotype Alliance Secretariat (HUAS), the NEP Support Officer will assist the NEP Specialist with the coordination and management of the NEP, to maintain continuity and sustain the momentum of the twelve established National Chapters (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, Turkey, UAE and UK) as well as the launch of 2 new National Chapters (China and Indonesia) by the end of 2022. The NEP Support Officer will assist with outreach at a country level, providing ongoing strategic, tactical and operational support for established and prospective National Chapters and UN Women Country Office colleagues. This includes the onboarding of national colleagues and members, tracking correspondence, performing data entry, and providing regular reporting while interacting between UN Women focal points in Country Offices and the Secretariat.

The Project Coordination Analyst will coordinate all new and existing chapters with Due Diligence research, and on global projects requiring National Chapter engagement (e.g. B2C campaign activations across all National Chapters, and the launch of the Gender Equality Attitudes Study 2022, which features nine of the 12 established chapters).   The staff will provide support to  the wider Unstereotype Alliance team as appropriate to plan for 2022 UA events (e.g. Cannes Lions festival, UNGA and the Global Member Summit).
