Intern - Programme Coordination and Support Unit

This is a search for young talent. Local and international students are encouraged to apply, with the latter contingent upon being granted an appropriate Thai visa.

This internship aims to offer students undergoing graduate or post-graduate studies a meaningful work experience by supplementing their learning through a practical and on-the-job training approach. In doing so, the intern’s knowledge is supplemented through a practical learning experience while IUCN derives some level of advantage from the young professional’s services as well as the possibility of gaining new perspectives from the intern.

The Intern will support the Programme Coordination and Support Unit team in providing integrated services to the entire Asia region in maintaining programme quality standards and programme quality initiatives as assigned. The Intern will be trained and mentored in records management techniques, archiving systems and records retention protocols. Learning areas include the following:

1. Assisting the team with compliance of periodic project portal updates
2. Supporting with the consolidation of the programme reports and any other relevant tasks as required
3. Supporting in coordinating the requested inputs from countries and relevant regional programmes
4. Developing preparatory materials and analysis as required by the team for priority tasks during the internship period
5. Carrying out preliminary desk analysis that involves reviewing project progress against work plans, procurement and disbursement plans as and when required
6. Learning opportunity in the development of the business engagements efforts across the region
7. Assisting in programme and project operational workflow and process in compliance with Policies and Procedures
8. Maintain and updating consultancy roster as well as relevant policies via MS SharePoint
9. Assisting in meeting/workshop materials preparation upon requested.
10. Perform other functions, as may be appropriate under the conditions of the internship.


The selected candidate will undergo a general orientation training on IUCN’s:
• Asia regional programme and strategy;
• institutional functions of the regional Secretariat;
• policies and standards for external stakeholder engagement; and,
• communications style guide, branding and quality-assurance checks.

In performing the assigned duties, the intern will have the opportunity to interact with key units and teams at the Regional Office, across the region, and/or with Headquarters. Overall he/she will learn communication strategies, methods and tools to influence decision-making and action by the region’s key stakeholders in nature conservation for sustainable development.
