External Communication Asset Producers, International Consultant(s) vacancy in UNICEF, Myanmar. The assignment will be a remote home-based assignment with no travel involved. Interested International applicants with relevant qualifications and experience can apply. (2) consultants will be hired out of this recruitment.

Objectives/Purpose of the Consultancy

The purpose of the assignment is to develop external communication products that illustrates UNICEF’s programme and activities in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. This will include the development of

  1. Human Interest Stories
  2. Thematic/programme/advocacy briefs and reports

Scope of Work:

  1. UNICEF will provide relevant documents to the consultants
  2. Where appropriate, UNICEF staff will provide raw information on the issue and the consultants will develop the stories based on the information they receive.
  3. UNICEF will arrange meeting with relevant UNICEF staff, beneficiaries and service providers for developing Human Interest Stories
  4. UNICEF will coordinate the review of the first draft by sections and CFOs and the consultant will deliver final versions. 

Geographic Area/ Duty Station: Home-based/ Remote

Duration of the Assignment : 11.5 months, Part-time, Flexible Hours

Description of Assignment:

Tasks:

  1. Develop Human Interest Stories on COVID-19 response
  2. Develop and revise thematic briefs and reports

Deliverables:

  • Develop/co-author Human Interest Stories (Health and nutrition, WASH, Education, Child Protection, Social Policy and Child Rights Monitoring) [ Remark: A maximum of 60 days per contract period ]
  • Develop an external version of internal reports and briefs and advocacy documents. [ Remark: Once a month as required ]

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree and/or post graduate education in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or other related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of proven experience (both at national and international levels) in writing and editing communication materials (stories, briefs, advocacy booklets, brochures, concept notes) in English
  • Outstanding written English and advanced ability to quickly research, critically analyse and synthesise large amounts of information
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the international development environment and writing styles and requirements
  • Good interpersonal skills, including initiative, flexibility and patience

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
