ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING

The KAICIID Establishment Agreement calls for the Centre to enhance communication and information exchange in order to facilitate interreligious and intercultural dialogue and cooperation among people. The Communications Department engages KAICIID’s audiences with information that fosters an up-to-date, actionable and relevant understanding of the Centre’s mission and work. Its goal is to win support for the Centre’s mandate and a positive reception of the outcomes its work achieves.

GENERAL SCOPE OF ROLE

Raise awareness of the importance of KAICIID’s mission and vision; maximise visibility of KAICIID’s programmatic work in the Arab region.

The Centre is looking for experienced media consultants who will promote the centre’s activities in the Arab region media.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Use consultant media contacts in the country or countries in the Arab region to help KAICIID´s Communications Department portray and promote KAICIID’s work.
• Consult on opportunities for media outreach to cover events such as TV coverage, reportages, interviews, and media invitations.
• Prepare, draft, disseminate and monitor press releases in Arabic.
• Support Communications Department with media work to maximize visibility of concrete events and secure positive coverage in the Arab region.
• Track KAICIID-related mentions and articles (online and print) in the Arab region and inform the Communications Department about any coverage.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• University degree in journalism, communications, political or social sciences or related field;
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in professional news reporting or related field;
• Keen understanding of the local social, cultural, and political context;
• Fluency (both speaking and writing) in Arabic. English is desirable.

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT

The selected candidate shall be offered a long term consultancy agreement (LTA). The Services shall be provided on an “as and when required” and a non-exclusive basis based on requirements/instructions provided by the Communications Department.

The Consultant will be provided with the relevant material/information which the Centre considers necessary for performing the services. The Centre and the Consultant may exchange additional information and documentation that might be required by the Consultant in order to understand the scope and nature of the requirements of the Centre.

• Per press release distribution/monitoring rate including the names of news agencies/ outlets and geographical area(s) of coverage.
• Per word drafting rate for press releases.
• Per event coverage rate in case of organizing media outreach services such as TV coverage, reportages, interviews, journalists and media invitations.
• Per day of event coverage if support/presence is required.
