Overview of position
Role objectives

  1. Develop overall strategy and ensure the implementation and monitoring of protection activities for migrants inthe Southern Tunisia.

  1. Develop overall strategies and ensure the implementation and monitoring of health activities inside and outsideshelters.

  1. Provide operational supervision and coordination of field staff in performing their tasks and duties, ensure effective communication and cooperation between them, based on Principles and Standard of Conduct on a daily basis, and report regularly.

  1. Develop action plans on protection issues, based on shelter context, community needs and available services, and ensure appropriate and adequate protection and assistance measures for vulnerable groups residing in shelters or semi-independent living. 

  1. Ensure quality of case management of protection cases all the way to case resolution with a particular attention to the implementation of effective exit strategy for assistance.

  1. Ensure protection mainstreaming across all  activities in sites.

  1. Build the capacity of specialized and non-specialized staff and monitor training needs of specialized protection staff.

  1. Supervise case management and referrals to other actors.

  1. Liaise and coordinate with local authorities, Municipalities, Site Managers and other site actors or partners.

  1. Monitor the quality of protection interventions and the access to services by migrants, highlight possible gaps, provide technical inputs and suggestions for improvements and recommendations.

  1. Undertake any duty travel as required.

  1. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Further information

  • Experience in working with migrants from various nationalities would be considered as an advantage;

  • Experience in liaising with governmental and consular authorities as well as with international institutions;

  • Strong experience in working in a multi-cultural environment, openness, critical thinking;

  • Capacity to prevent and address racism, xenophobia and all forms of discrimination;

  • Experience in team coordination

  • strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills; 

  • Strong work ethics and commitment to human rights law and humanitarian principles; 

  • Strong skills in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems. 

  • Willingness to travel and work under difficult conditions;  

  • Valid driver’s license with at least five years driving experience.
