What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Reports to Head of Learning Solutions (20% to Monitoring& Evaluation Manager)

Purpose

 

As part of the LnD Division (Learning and Development), the Learning solutions unit (LS) provides advice and support to ICRC trainers and managers through the development and deployment of blended learning solutions. The unit advises on techno-pedagogical engineering for adult training.

 

The Learning Solutions Associate is an active member of the LnD team, and mostly engaged with Learning Solutions team, working to meet the Division’s and Unit’s objectives for 2022/23.

 

S/he, under the supervision of the head of Unit, mainly carries out activities to develop and communicate the training offer, strengthen links within the LnD ecosystem and contribute to the evolution of the Learning Solutions Unit.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

 

Support the Learning Solutions communication about tools and training offer:

  • Creation of communication resources;
  • Contribute to the communication on technical infrastructure (production, facilitation and provision tools);
  • Contribute to the update of Learning solutions services site.


Support learning evaluation:

  • Support on the evaluation of LnD programs (in collaboration with the program managers)- communication with participants, survey results analysis, etc.;
  • Support on the implementation of the Training M&E Framework (in collaboration with the Learning Quality and Evaluation Manager) – help with the organization of onboarding workshops, creation of communication items, consolidation of stakeholders’ feedback.


Support the Learning Solutions unit in the implementation of its research and development initiatives:

  • Contribute to adhoc research upon request supporting the evolution of Learning solutions Unit;
  • Contribute to consolidation and development of Digital Learning Framework;
  • Contribute to establishing and implementing some decision tools within the Digital Learning Framework.


Carry out activities in the learning and development community of practice:

  • Assist in the maintenance and evolution of Learning practitioners Community;
  • Contribute to the communication within the community of learning practitioners;
  • Contribute to ad hoc support related to learning practitioners.

Certifications / Education required

 

  • Masters or Bachelor degree in Adult education, Communication or related field.

 

Important information: Only individuals enrolled in higher education or who have recently completed their studies are eligible to be trainees/associates. For candidates to be eligible they must have a maximum of one year’s professional experience after graduation (related to the post) or two years if they have been in previous traineeships.

Desired profile and skills

 

  •  Knowledge of current communication and tools, including digital platforms
  • Strong knowledge of adult-learning or interest.
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills (French an asset).
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical and organizational capacity
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to workload that varies and to work under pressure
  • Autonomy combined with ability to work well within a team.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn new tools in an autonomous way
  • Graphic design skills (Canva, Piktochart, video, Vyond, Photoshop) an asset.
  • Knowledge of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement an asset.
  • Community management experience an asset
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation an asset.
