What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

  • Drive & accelerate production cloud solutions in line with our cloud strategy;
  • Design services patterns and design landing zones based on business requirements to enable business applications in the cloud;
  • Build enterprise-ready architectures on the Public Cloud by defining and using patterns;
  • Facilitate application migrations to the cloud.

Main duties and responsibilities

 

  • Build and design scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that address business requirements;
  • Partner closely with Cloud Infrastructure Architect to design Application Solutions and Landing Zones using Cloud Technology and considering infrastructure, security and compliance constraints;
  • Drive application migrations to the cloud, including the evaluation of new cloud products and services to enable a highly secure, compliant and scalable platforms;
  • Work with the Application Solution Architects and Platform Owners to deliver the business application with the “security by design” principle to protect data from our beneficiaries;
  • Contributes to the overall IT Cloud and architecture strategy.

Relationships

 

  • Cloud Solution Architect will report to the Cloud-Native Architect and be required to collaborate with a wide variety of teams and people across infrastructure, application, business units and external cloud-related providers.

Education and experience required

 

  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience;
  • 5+ years experience in hands-on application development using C# .NET or Python and Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL;
  • 3+ years of experience architecting Cloud Application Solution in Azure including experience with IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offering;
  • 3+ years experience in hands-on application development using containerization technologies such as Kubernetes;
  • 3+ years of experience designing and working with event-driven architectures using various messaging protocols;
  • Strong Agile and DevOps experience to deliver application and cloud components.

Desired profile and skills

 

  • Strong Experience designing cloud-native architectures based on application/business requirements;
  • Deep knowledge of orchestration and containerization deployment especially with Azure (Azure Kubernetes Services, ACR, ACI, App Services for Containers);
  • Good Experience in designing cloud-based Data & AI platforms using a wide range of Azure Services including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse or Databricks. Azure Machine Learning and Purview are a plus;
  • Knowledge in building and maintaining deployment using DevOps CI/CD pipelines. Azure DevOps / GitHub is a plus;
  • Trusted and respected as a Cloud Solution Architect who can influence and persuade business, IT leaders and platform owners about the adequate cloud solution;
  • Experience and capability to work with different internal/external teams and units in a matrix organizational setup;
  • Comfortable at working with business executives and technical teams, and able to push back in a professional, diplomatic way and drive consensus;
  • Open-minded, problem-solving, and results oriented;
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken), French is a plus.
