What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

 


The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is a specialist of cloud environments and their management. They are in charge of designing, building and maintaining the ICRC Azure Hybrid Cloud infrastructure. They will also work on the automation of the deployment of the ICRC Azure Hybrid Cloud infrastructure.

 

Within the Cloud team, they ensure the consistency and evolution of the multi-cloud management implemented and associated technologies. It supports the platform manager and ensures 360° communication with collaborators: L3 platforms, L2 and L1 support teams, project teams.

Main duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Define and implement the configuration of Azure infrastructure and services based on the Enterprise Scale reference architecture;
  • Implement the security architecture to ensure data security at rest and in transit for PAAS and IAAS services:
  • Build and Implement monitoring using Azure Monitor, Azure Application Insights and Log Analytics Workspace, in collaboration with the global monitoring service team;
  • Write and implement Azure policies;
  • Work with the automation team on the Azure landing zone deployment with Terraform;
  • Creating and updating the Terraform/Arm Template for Azure service;
  • Onboard and provide support to the infrastructure teams for Terraform/Arm Template;
  • Onboard and provide support to the application team for Terraform/Arm Template;
  • Support of the application and infrastructure teams for Azure infrastructure;
  • Write, document and transfer knowledge;
  • Solving of Azure infrastructure and services;
  • Day to day operation of the Azure infrastructure;
  • Available to travel on an ad-hoc basis to meet with partners.

Education and experience required

 

  • Information Technology Engineer diploma;
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the IT domain, more than 5 years in Systems service implementation;
  • Good comprehension of the French and English languages (written and spoken).

Desired profile and skills

 

  • Hands-on experience in the designing, implementing and fixing Azure Cloud Infrastructure;
  • Hands-on experience with an implementation and/or a migration in enterprise scale environment for an Azure hybrid cloud project;
  • Knowledge of the main Azure service (VM, AKS, DBaaS, Application Gateway);
  • Knowledge in encryption for Azure Paas and Saas service (Vault, BYOK);
  • Experienced know how of Terraform/Arm template for Azure infrastructure;
  • Knowledge of Cloud Adoption Framework and Enterprise Scale reference architecture;
  • Hands-on experience in the designing and deploying Automation and CI/CD for Azure Cloud infrastructure and services;
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline to deploy infrastructure and service with Terraform and/or Arm Template;
  • Demonstrated experience in IT infrastructure (networks, datacenters, customer services and process management);
  • Experience in improving the security of Hybrid Cloud environments;
  • Knowledge of containerized applications management;
  • Knowledge of project processes and associated quality rules and operating constraints;
  • Great teammate with good listening skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to coordinate players across different teams, with no direct reporting relationship.
