What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

 

Customer Experience Unit provides project services to ICRC digital projects. These services include Project Management, Business Analysis, User Experience, Product Ownership and Testing.  


We are looking for a Project Officer to:

 

  1. Support the management of ICRC’s investment board for project Tech and Data projects;
  2. Support the improvement of project data quality in order to improve project capacity management and project reporting;
  3. Manage reporting and dashboarding needs for Customer Experience;
  4. Support project and portfolio management of T&DB projects managed within T&I CUST.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

 

Activities will involve:

 

  • Tech & Data Board support;
  • Preparing weekly Board meetings;
  • Structure project specific recommendations from contributors by coordinating a formal review;
  • Build agenda, book placeholders for project deep dives, prepare slide deck;
  • Produce and share detailed minutes upon approval of Board members;
  • Produce and share monthly communication to larger stakeholder community.

 

Improvement of project data quality, project capacity management and project reporting:

 

  • Performing data quality checks on all project planning activities to ensure capacity planning is as accurate as possible;
  • Following up on a monthly basis with up to 20 project managers to correct any data errors in Microsoft Project and Project Online;
  • Managing reports within Microsoft Project and Tableau to give an understanding of existing project activity vs team capacity;
  • Having a close understanding of new project demands and their potential impact on Customer Experience staffing;
  • Providing weekly and monthly analytics to Customer Experience Management in order to take staffing decisions.

 

Support Key Projects and Programmes: 

 

  • Ensures that project controls are performed and recorded, in line with Project Management Framework and applicable ICRC procedures;
  • Assists in preparing documents required by the team and Steering Committee and produces minutes of meetings where necessary;
  • Assists in monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and with reporting activities;
  • Ensures that an overall information management structure is in place for the project/programme and assists with filing and archiving where necessary;
  • Supports the management and monitoring of project-related tasks, in close coordination with the project team.

    

Certifications / Education required

 

  • University Degree (Uni, EPF, HEC) or equivalent qualification;
  • Project-management training and certification desirable;
  • Proficiency in planning, organization and data-management software.

Professional Experience required

 

  • 5+ years in a similar role;
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or any other Project and Capacity Management tools;
  • Experience of working in IT (Information Technology) or PMO (Project Management Office) organizations;
  • Experience of project lifecycles and methodologies.
