Mission and objectives

UNAMA was established in 2002 as a Political/ Peacebuilding Mission, exceptionally) directed and supported by the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO).

Context

In most cultures volunteerism is deeply embedded in long-established, ancient traditions of sharing and support within the communities. In this context, UN Volunteers take part in various forms of volunteerism and play a role in development and peace together with co-workers, host agencies and local communities. In all assignments, UN Volunteers promote volunteerism through their action and conduct. Engaging in volunteer activity can effectively and positively enrich their understanding of local and social realities, as well as create a bridge between themselves and the people in their host community. This will make the time they spend as UN Volunteers even more rewarding and productive.

Task description

When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, including contractors/vendors/suppliers, the incumbent is strongly encouraged to set aside dedicated time for capacity development through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job • To work as Facility Planner & Lease Processor in Umoja Real Estate, carry out data entry related to Real Estate of multiple compounds of mission, carry out Portfolio management of Mission Real Estate • Perform all tasks related to Real Estate data entry and its Inventory management in United Nations centralized data base system in Umoja – Real Estate module • Physical inspection of real Estate properties, carry out required alteration amendment and addition of facilities as built time to time. • Manage all UNAMA leases, updating the leases in system, carry out required modification to leases time to time. • Actively involvement in Write off of Real Estate properties from the centralized Inventory management system, follow up with other section, deal with Local Property survey board and take necessary action for timely write off of Real Estate and Fixed Assets properties from the Umoja Inventory. • Generate periodic Lease Invoices through Computer system, to ensure that Invoices are as per various type of Lease agreement and MOUs • Assist in Umoja Preventive maintenance module. • Assist in Umoja Service Delivery module. • Assist in building maintenance of compound and periodic preventive maintenance of engineering facilities • Support Environmental Projects and deal with multiple sections for required work • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. • When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, including contractors/vendors/suppliers, the incumbent is strongly encouraged to set aside dedicated time or capacity development through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job training.
