The Pacific Community (SPC) is the principal scientific and technical organisation in the Pacific region, supporting development since 1947. The Operations and Management Directorate (OMD) provides corporate services to all SPC divisions and programmes. It consists of three key teams: Finance, Human Resources and Information Services. OMD is focused on improving the effectiveness of systems, policies and management so as to provide high-quality customer-oriented services.

The ICT Audio Visual Technician will assist in providing ICT and AV Service Support. The key responsibilities of the role include:

Conference Technical Support

  • Operate control desk of conference equipment including but not limited to microphones, recordings, PowerPoint, infra-red and wireless systems in the Conference Room on SPC Campuses
  • Provide first level technical support to all SPC meetings and conferences hosted in or connected to SPC Fiji Campus
  • Provide first level technical support to SPC meetings and conferences hosted outside SPC Campus as when required

Repair and Maintenance of Conference Equipment

  • Assist with support and maintenance of all conference equipment in meeting rooms as well as mobile equipment
  • Keep records of conference equipment and where required communicate with ICT AV specialist of there are any procurement needs
  • Perform thorough testing of conferencing equipment during routine maintenance

Offsite Conference Logistics

  • Assist with obtaining quotations for shipment of equipment to external venues for conferences
  • Assist users with the arranging of logistics for conferences, both hybrid and physical

Inductions and Training

  • To assist, organize and conduct training sessions of new and existing staff on ICT related issues
  • Prepare training guides on software and support issues

Desktop System Troubleshooting and Maintenance

  • Provide troubleshooting services
  • Prepare training guides on software and support issues

End User – Software & Hardware Support

  • Ensure that desktops and laptops are functioning correctly to SPC SOE standards
  • Maintenance and support for network printers and scanners
  • Install cable phones as reuired

Key selection criteria

Qualifications

  • Diploma or equivalent in relevant field ICT and /or Audio Visual and/or Sound Re-Enforcement Technology

Knowledge and experience

  • At least 2-3 years relevant IT work experience
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft, Mac and Linux based systems         

Essential skills

  • Ability to work as a team
  • Good organizational skills

Language skills

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)

Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

  • Ability to work in a multicultural, inclusive and equitable environment

 

Salary, terms and conditions

Contract Duration – 3 years – subject to renewal depending on funding and performance

Remuneration – Band 6 position in SPC’s 2022 salary scale, with a commencing taxable salary range of 1,846-2,308 per month, plus local staff benefits. An offer of appointment for an initial contract will normally be made in the lower half of this range, with due consideration given to experience and qualifications. Progression within the salary scale will be based on annual performance reviews.
