CHAI's HIV Access Program

Although there has been a remarkable decline in new HIV infections over the last two decades, evidence shows that there has been stagnation in the reduction of new cases globally since 2019. Despite the existence and implementation of multiple effective prevention interventions, there has likewise been an increase in new HIV infections among certain geographies and populations. Scaling access to safe, effective prevention options that meet the needs of those at high risk of HIV is essential to eliminating new HIV infections and reaching epidemic control. However, various barriers – individual and systemic –persist, limiting the impact of proven HIV prevention interventions, especially in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). CHAI is currently working with Ministries of Health in Zambia and Zimbabwe and a range of partners globally to facilitate the sustainable introduction, scale up, and maintenance of effective HIV prevention interventions by leveraging experience from Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) and oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Since 2020, CHAI has increased focus on documenting and sharing lessons from supporting the sustainable integration of national HIV prevention programs while facilitating advance strategic planning for the introduction of cabotegravir long-acting injectable (CAB-LA) and the prevention pill (DPP).

CHAI’s HIV Access Program is looking for a Communications & Learning Manager, HIV Prevention. The Manager will work closely with CHAI global and country teams to execute CHAI’s HIV prevention learning agenda and knowledge-sharing activities in focal countries, regionally, and globally. The Manager will lead development and implementation of a knowledge management (KM) strategy and learning agenda for the HIV prevention team’s ongoing integration and sustainability-focused work under the STRIDE grant. The Manager’s responsibilities will include translating the grant’s existing KM and learning strategy into a concrete implementation plan and operationalizing this plan. With a focus on strategy development, knowledge capture, and dissemination, the Manager will work closely with CHAI global and country teams to build staff capacity to document, synthesize and communicate CHAI approaches and learnings tailored to specific audiences and strategic purposes. The primary objective of the Manager will be to ensure that knowledge is effectively captured, and that insights from and the impact of CHAI’s work under the STRIDE grant are tailored to and clearly communicated to a variety of target audiences.

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding qualifications and demonstrated experience and skills for this role. An exceptional communicator and strategic thinker, the candidate must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence. The Manager is comfortable developing KM strategies and learning agendas and ensuring their high-quality execution. The Manager will report to the HIV Prevention Senior Manager and work closely with the HIV Prevention Director. The Manager will have the opportunity to join CHAI’s internal Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) community of practice and to engage with other CHAI communications experts as needed.
