BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change. The Innovation and Knowledge Management Division was set up in 2015 to manage change and promote innovation within the organization. The team is working directly with WFP’s leadership to drive corporate priority projects and strengthen Knowledge Management across the organization, sharing knowledge across geographic and technical areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent, reporting to the INK Knowledge Management (KM) lead, is expected to:

Design and implement a strategy to build, grow and sustain a long-term, thriving, and active Knowledge Management community of practice:
- Design and implement guidelines and best practices for the community to optimize member experience;
- Design communication tools and assets to support the Knowledge Management community;
- Create training to help KM champions build relationships that nurture the development of the community and its members;
- Build out a calendar of activities for the community and proactively engage WFP KM focal points to participate and contribute to the community under the strategic direction of the KM lead;
- Build and maintain effective relationships at HQ, Regional Bureau, Global Offices and Country Office level.

Learning and sharing:
- Provide support to WFP’s corporate learning related to knowledge management, e.g., maintaining, updating and tracking usage on WFP’s WeLearn Channel, supporting face-to-face and blended learning on Knowledge Management, preparing on-boarding materials for KM staff;

Monitoring focal point:
- Produce monthly analytics on usage of WFP’s knowledge platforms
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Ensure that all work and materials developed during the contract are well documented and available to the WFP team.
- A KM Community of Practice set-up on Yammer and functioning well with good representation from a cross-section of WFP’s offices and technical divisions.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: |
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus. |
Experience: |
At least 3 years of progressively responsible national and/or international experience in knowledge management, partnerships, communications, reporting and/or business-related positions. |

Languages: |
Fluency in oral and written English mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is a plus. |
Visa: |
