Mission and objectives

The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was established by Security Council resolution 2100 of 25 April 2013 to support political processes in the country and to carry out a number of security-related tasks. The Mission has been asked to support the transitional authorities of Mali in the stabilization of the country and implementation of the transitional roadmap, focusing on major population centers and lines of communication, protecting civilians, human rights monitoring, the creation of conditions for the provision of humanitarian assistance and the return of displaced persons, the extension of State authority and the preparation of free, inclusive and peaceful elections. Context

• A centralized and harmonized use of information on all stages of the electoral cycle made available to the division; • Relevant information and recommendations to better support national actors in the conduct of the process provided; • All electoral matters recorded and compiled at the end of the electoral mandate. • Lessons learned in terms of managerial issues presented;

Task description

Under the responsibility of the Chief Electoral Division and under the direct supervision of the Officer in charge of the operations, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for the following tasks: • Administer closely with Communication and Information technology Section (CITS) and the officer in charge of operations the database of the electoral division; • Assure the management of access to the database of the division; • Update the structures of electoral database; • Anticipate the preparation of the different stages of the process; • Contribute to the implementation of applications needed to monitor different stages of the electoral cycle; • Contribute to the implementation of the compilation of the results; • Synthesize and return the results of the electoral cycle; • Participate, in connection with the official in charge of operations, to the analysis and design of modules for automated information management structures used by the electoral division; • Provide centralized processing and data collection on the field of the electoral cycle; • Contribute to capacity building, training and upgrading users of the information and communication system of Electoral Division; • Ensure internal coordination of data processing performed on the database by the staff of the division; • Update the structures of electoral database; • When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, the incumbent should set aside dedicated time for training, coaching, mentoring and capacity development. • Performs other related duties as required.
