The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. Current Opportunity

The Governance Unit, in the Office of the Director-General, is responsible for effective and efficient functioning of GGGI’s governance organs, including the Assembly, Council and the Management and Program Sub-Committee (MPSC). It also functions as the Office of the President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council and maintains a portfolio of specific outreach targets for some countries including the Host Country, the Republic of Korea.

We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Governance Unit in the Office of the Director General at GGGI HQ in Seoul as an intern to “learn by doing” while providing support to the work of the Unit. The intern will be exposed to and gain in-depth experience in the following areas: 1) the inner workings of governance organs of an intergovernmental organization; 2) the process and tools to organize official governance organ meetings and events; 3) the coordination process between internal and external stakeholders and partners; 4) the maintenance and management of databases, parliamentary documentation and official correspondence; 5) research on government officials, policies and practices; 6) cross-cutting issues and activities of the GGGI; 6) support for the President & Chair of GGGI; and 7) the process of a country or regional integration organization becoming a member of an intergovernmental organization.

The assignment will include the following but not limited to:

    • Provide inputs for official documents: meeting minutes, talking points, official correspondence, and draft summaries of proceedings;
    • Research support: Research on news, official appointments, issues, profiles/bios, contact details and other records/facts of importance to GGGI;
    • Coordination and logistical support: support for governance organ meetings and events, including the 15th Management and Program Sub-Committee Meeting and 11th Assembly and 15th Council Joint Session in 2022;
    • Database management: update and manage databases for GGGI projects, contacts, event registrations, documents and files;
    • General administrative support: perform other administrative duties as required; and
    • With guidance from Governance Unit supervisors, conduct a long-term research project that will be beneficial to both GGGI and the intern; and
    • Give final presentation towards the end of the internship

Interns will be selected based on merit and cannot be children or siblings of current GGGI staff members.

 

Eligibility

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must meet the following requirements: 

    • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
    • Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work
    • Possess an excellent command of English.

 

Important Information
    • Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin the internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation. 
    • Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.  
    • Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.  
    • Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.  
    • Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
    • Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential all unpublished information obtained during the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.  
    • Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.  
    • Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
    • Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
    • Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.

 

Selection Process
    • GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
    • Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
    • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
