We Effect is recruiting a Regional Human Resources Officer

We Effect, Regional Office of Southern Africa (ROSA), is now recruiting an experienced Regional Human Resources Officer. The position is part of the Regional Office in Lusaka, Zambia.

We Effect Southern Africa consists of four countries with programmes in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Malawi.

Main responsibilities The main responsibilities include to

• Lead the HR operations in the region

• Provide leadership and guidance on all HR and legal matters to the Regional Director, Country Managers as well as      to the Management Team.

• Oversees all HR functions in the region including recruitment, compensation and benefits, employee relations, organisational development, training, and continuous performance management

• Contribute to the development of Global HR policies, procedures, and systems, when needed and relevant.

• Ensure that HR policies/procedures and standards are met and are within the confines of labour Laws, and the regional and country offices are compliant with local labor laws, We Effects requirements, and international NGO community best practices.

• Work closely with the Global HR team and liaise with the Global Human Resources Manager on all Human Resources matters in the region.

• Lead the implementation of Global Human Resource strategies and initiatives and monitor their performance.

• Develop effective Human Resource procedures that reflect the organisation’s philosophy and requirements and keep staff informed of new development and procedures.

• Lead efforts to institutionalise a culture of We Effect values.

• Liaise and consult with local legal counsel on Human Resource issues in coordination with the Regional Director.

About you

You have several years of experience in working in HR within a civil society context or international development cooperation. As a Regional HR Officer, you are aware of employment trends and labor laws and have an interest in keeping up with emerging knowledge in the field. You have excellent written communication skills for writing contributions to We Effects HR policies and job descriptions and for helping employees understand the rules and expectations of working with We Effect. You also have excellent skills in public speaking and general oral communication to lead new employee orientations and workshops. As Regional HR Officer you must have the ability to manage information and organise it for easy access and determine the most useful structure for each department. You are mature and experienced in mediating conflicts between employees and helping all employees receive appropriate accommodations. You are a problem solver that drives progress and innovation and prevents employee turnover. As a Regional HR Officer, you should have a high level of integrity and trustworthiness.

You share the organisation's vision of a sustainable and just world for all, free from poverty. Required qualifications

• Academic degree in Human Resources or related relevant field;

• Minimum of five years of work experience in civil society organisations and/or international development cooperation; • Experience in Human Resources for international development cooperation and an appreciation of the labour laws in the region;

• Strong communication skills, work well in a team, excellent deadline management, and ease to work towards set goals;

• Excellent English skills, both spoken and in writing;

• A member of HR or other relevant professional body;

• Proficient in computer skills;

• Driver's license with not less than five years of driving experience; and

• Able and willing to travel when required.
