Communications Assistant is responsible for creating and crafting compelling digital content, with a particular focus on video and graphic design, which engages audiences in a dynamic, interactive and meaningful way and sparks conversations around issues related to UNDP’s mandate. She/he will play a key role in producing content for UNDP’s presence in Turkey, on a wide range of social media platforms, as well as helping guide wider digital editorial processes. S/he will also support the creation and coordination of social media strategies and campaigns, digital marketing, monitoring and analysis, and moderation of platforms, working under the direct supervision of the Communications Officer.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Create compelling social media content for digital platforms (including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) in a timely manner while regularly coming up with ideas for engaging social media content and campaigns, working with relevant colleagues to assess feasibility.
  2. Monitor and moderate social media channels, flagging risk and opportunities to deepen engagement.
  3. Coordinate social media projects and campaigns as required, working closely with relevant communications colleagues, and other teams to develop joint digital initiatives.
  4. Produce visuals, infographics and animated videos for digital campaigns.
  5. Keep track of efforts and activities of other UN agencies and nonprofits as well as other portfolios/programmes/projects under CO in relevant subjects.
  6. Support other teams in UNDP Turkey Country Office on their social media efforts and develop guidance documents and lead trainings when required.

The Communications Assistant directly reports to the Communications Officer.

Required Skills and Experience
 
Education:
  • High School Degree

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Design, Public Relations, Social Sciences or a relevant field would be desired

Experience:
  • A minimum of 4  years of relevant professional experience is required.

  • Alternatively, if in possession of Bachelor’s degree, 1 year of relevant experience would be required.

  • Working experience in an international environment is an asset.

Skills:

  • Strong English and Turkish language drafting skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Windows-based applications are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe CC Suite is required.

 

 Languages:

  • Fluent in English and Turkish

 

Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section:

  • Specific experience in print and digital design is an asset.
  • Specific experience in video shooting and editing is an asset.
  • Demonstrated photography skills is an asset.
  • Specific experience in design of communication and visibility materials in various forms is an asset.
