Background

The Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism in Asia (STRIVE Asia) - A Joint EU-UN Partnership aims at contributing to preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) in Central, South and Southeast Asia through a whole of society/multi-stakeholder approach including governments, security actors, civil society and the private sector. The specific objective is that key Government (executive and its security agencies and legislative bodies, where appropriate) and non-Government actors are better prepared to contribute to P/CVE objectives in targeted regions and countries. STRIVE Asia is a joint global project of UNOCT, UNODC and UNDP which leads the implementation of its Output 3: Local resilience of at-risk communities is strengthened through the support of community-led initiatives in the P/CVE area.

Position purpose

The intern will assist the Project Manager by supporting the development and implementation ofthe project activities, including outreach and communications, office management and event organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specifically, the intern will under the direct supervision and guidance of the Project Manager:

Outreach and communications:

  • Support development and translation of Press Releases and translation of statements, briefs, into English and/or Uzbek/Russian.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Project team’s communication plan.
  • Support the planning and implementation of events and consultations, specifically focusing on engaging stakeholders through visually appealing pre/post communication products.

 

Collect and manage knowledge materials

  • Search, collect and maintain best national and international practices on preventing and countering violent extremism and other thematic areas.
  • Support knowledge management systems and tools of the Project team.

Event management and others

  • Support the project team to organize events on preventing and countering violent extremism and other thematic areas, such as high level conferences, round tables, meetings, trainings and etcetera.
  • Assist in developeing concept and agenda of the events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The direct supervisors of Intern is the Project Manager.

Required Skills and Experience

Min. Academic Education

(a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in finance, economy, procurement, logistics, ICT or other related fields;

(b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);

Min. years of relevant Work experience 

Work experience in project management, foreign policy or other related fields is welcomed (but not required). 

Required Language(s) (at working level)

Fluency in Uzbek and English and proficiency in Russian languages.
