The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill an intern position in our Workforce Planning & Strategy Branch of the Human Resources Division.

 

Brief description of the Workforce Planning & Strategy Branch, HR

 

Our branch is the center of expertise for Strategic Workforce Planning in WFP supporting Functions and Country Offices to proactively plan for their medium to long-term workforce needs against strategic priorities.  

Strategic Workforce Planning is sponsored and owned by the WFP Functions and Country Offices. Our team offers in-depth guidance and subject matter expertise throughout the process, including workforce analysis, forecasting, predictive analytics, and the use of Strategic Workforce Planning technology. 

 

Your role

  • You will be part of a dynamic team, collaborating with subject matter experts across WFP Divisions and Country Offices to establish, monitor and update Strategic Workforce Plans.
  • You will support data analytics and visualization activities related to Strategic Workforce Planning across WFP.
  • You will support the management of the Strategic Workforce Planning technology platform and enable it use.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

Under the direct supervision of the Data Analyst of the Team, you will perform the following duties:

  1. Support the gathering, cleansing, transformation, interpretation, and validation of workforce data and its in-depth analysis ensuring quality standards and data privacy.
  2. Contribute to the automation of data collection, preparation, and usage.
  3. Produce analysis and visualizations from workforce data for key stakeholders in strategic workforce planning.
  4. Use the strategic workforce planning technology platform to create workforce plans and support the capacity building of HR and subject matter experts across WFP Divisions and Country Offices to enable the effective delivery of strategic workforce planning across WFP.
  5. Other, as required.

 

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Currently enrolled with at least two years undergraduate studies completed, or recently graduated (within the past six months) in human resources, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field
  • University course attendance in the past 12 months
  • Excellent command of English; Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset
  • Excellent MS Excel skills including building pivot analysis, charting, formulas, v-lookups, and data validation. Knowledge of Power Queries is a plus.
  • Experience in the use of Python
  • Proficiency in other MS Office applications (Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • At least one previous work/internship experience in the field of data analytics
  • Data analytics background a plus

Supervision (Level/Methods of Supervision)

 

Under the direct supervision of the Data Analyst, you will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy/mentor, you will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

  • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
  • WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
  • WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
  • WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
