Mission and objectives
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has worked directly with the government and people of Yemen for more than 50 years. In spite of these efforts, however, the conflict initiated in 2015 has resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Nearly 80 per cent of Yemenis are in need of humanitarian assistance and protection, 10 million people are on the brink of famine, and over 3 million are currently displaced and unable to return to their homes. Yemen now ranks 178th on the Human Development Index – in comparison to 153rd prior to 2015. UNDP acknowledges the desire by the Yemeni people to live lives that are peaceful, dignified, and not dependent on foreign assistance. In addition to responding to the most urgent humanitarian needs, UNDP projects are designed to restore livelihoods, strengthen resilience to future challenges, and lay the foundation for long-term development.
Context
UNDP Yemen publishes an infographic report highlighting the Country Office’s interventions in the COVID-19 sector: 2020 COVID-19 Response Recap Newsletter (can be found at https://www.undp.org/yemen). Similarly, the assigned Online UNV will be responsible for creating the 2021 COVID-19 Response Recap Newsletter.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Team Lead for Communications and Advocacy, the Online UN Volunteer will undertake the following task: 1. Design the English annual infographic report of UNDP Yemen’s COVID-19 interventions from the provided text (Word document), ensuring that the version is error-free and meets standards. 2. Provide all the editable documents and links upon assignment conclusion. 3. The Online Volunteer's practical knowledge in graphics editing and Adobe InDesign and Illustrator is key to ensuring that the task is fulfilled and meets the standards.
