Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Officer

BACKGROUND
The Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Officer serves as regional lead in developing and implementing corporate communications strategies to support IUCN Asia’s engagement with its key stakeholders.
JOB DESCRIPTION
i. Regional communications strategy development and management

• Lead the development of a regional communications strategy to support the IUCN Asia programme, under the guidance of GCU and the IUCN corporate communications strategy, for effectively engaging with stakeholders, including the Union secretariat and key constituencies, programme partners, policy and funding decision-makers, and knowledge-product users;
• Manage strategy implementation through results-based communications roadmap, operational work plans and coordination mechanisms among various teams/units of IUCN Asia;
• Serve as communications focal point for IUCN Asia’s overall knowledge management effort for evidence systematisation, knowledge synthesis, institutional learning and external stakeholders’ outreach; and,
• Assist RDO in the rollout of IUCN corporate communications policies and guidelines, including monitoring for compliance and planning and executing strategic communications for targeted audiences in the region.

ii. Coordination of regional services for corporate communications

• Provide IUCN quality assurance --including editing, proofreading and fact-checking -- for communications-related products, events and initiatives are undertaken by the regional team;
• Coordinate the regional working group of communications practitioners, facilitate staff capacity building and support in project/office/unit-specific communications efforts;
• Support IUCN Secretariat’s global and inter-regional communications team in institution-wide initiatives for corporate products, and provide key content and other inputs from the region; and,
• Conduct proactive and responsive media relations in the region, coordinating with GCU, according to IUCN media policy.

iii. Development and delivery of communications products

• Coordinate and oversee the use of IUCN institutional platforms, including online and social media, together with communications staff in regional/country offices and programme/project teams;
• Work with senior IUCN experts and spokespeople, under GCU’s guidance, to help them effectively deliver IUCN messages through mass media and other external platforms, and that these messages are consistent with IUCN’s mission;
• Supervise consultants and external service providers in their delivery of outputs for the entire communications planning and production cycle; and,
• Serve as IUCN Asia focal point for collaborative communications activities and projects with external partners; and,

iv. Institutional learning and internal communications

• Organise and manage internal knowledge-sharing events and platforms to foster institutional learning for the regional team;
• Collaborate with key units in the regional and country offices to facilitate in-house information dissemination, discussion and dialogue; and,
• Carry out any other relevant tasks as required by, and mutually agreed, with line manager/s.
REQUIREMENTS
SALARY
The minimum gross annual salary for this position is USD 43'196. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
