Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this position is to:

  • Provide quality assurance and management roles for UNICCs Application Delivery Unit (CPD) managed projects as part of the Clients and Projects Division
  • Build, implement and support best practices to ensure Application Development processes are managed in compliance with UNICC processes
  • Integrate Q&A process in the AppDev product lifecycle following an Agile mindset and industry standard quality assurance procedures

Objectives of the Programme:

The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head Application Delivery Unit within the Clients and Projects Division and in close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders in other divisions of UNICC and other UN system agencies, as required. The incumbent could be requested to do any others tasks of similar level in related fields.

The IT Application Development Officer (specialization: Testing and Quality Assurance) will work in collaboration with the various Application Development teams and will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate the delivery of various applications, common solutions and products related to various technologies
  • Collaborate with development teams to design a testing solution that incorporates use of best practices, tools, processes and automation
  • Oversee and monitor the process of auditing and testing of respective solution/product
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with various stakeholders and UNICC colleagues in order to understand and review current and future business needs and propose solutions to address them
  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents and prepare a comprehensive test plan (Functional and Non-Functional) and schedules
  • Prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities during the product development process
  • Guide design, development and execution of automated and semi-automated scripts using tools
  • Ensure thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Ensure internal and external projects are delivered as per acceptance criteria and business requirements
  • Coordinate and supervise the daily work of the Testing and Quality Assurance team, including setting up of work plans, monitoring progress, providing regular feedback, technical guidance and support; Nurture a motivating work environment including development plans for the team
  • Provide other ad hoc support either within your team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full-time basis upon request from the senior management

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least five (5) years of relevant IT experience in application development, including experience working with global organizations and/or multinational companies Proven experience and knowledge of testing and quality assurance process in the application development
  • Experience with Secure Software development Lifecycle frameworks and methodologies
  • Excellent knowledge of automation testing tools
  • Experience with relevant testing tools such as Selenium, Katalon, New Relic, JMeter etc.
  • Customer experience best practices and techniques
  • Experience in supervising, mentoring and coordinating the work of junior personnel and remote teams

Desirable:

  • Good knowledge of DevSecOps process, CI/CD, scripting and automation tools
  • Good knowledge of standard project management methodologies and frameworks such as PRINCE2, SCRUM and / or Agile Strong analytical skills with ability to gather requirements and develop management frameworks and templates
  • Good knowledge and sound understanding of IT fundamentals and technologies pertinent to creating business solutions (software development, architecture, applications, databases, integration, infrastructure and networks)
  • Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bamboo and other automation tools

Education*:

Essential:

  • First level university degree in information technology or related field

Desirable:

  • Prince2 certification
  • Testing and Quality assurance certification

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Other language:   Intermediate knowledge of Spanish or French or Italian is desirable

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate): 

  • Brindisi, (Italy), including post adjustment (13,9% on July 2022): US$ 71,406.
  • Geneva, (Switzerland), including post adjustment (66,7% on July 2022): US$ 104,507.
  • Rome, (Italy), including post adjustment (19,3% on July 2022): US$ 74,791.
  • New York, (USA), including post adjustment (73,8% on July 2022): US$ 108,958.
  • Valencia, (Spain), including post adjustment (20% on July 2022): US$ 75,230.
