2. OBJETIVO DEL CONTRATO:

The incumbent will assist and support to the National Officer for Science and the Office Director in the implementation of activities in research, science, technology and innovation and capacity building to strengthen the capacities of universities, research institutions, among others, in advancing the Science sector agenda and will also assist in the develop and implement of activities under the supervision of the National Officer for Science. The incumbent will work within the frameworks of UNESCO's Medium-Term Strategy (C/4), the approved Programme and will aim to liaise effectively with the internal staff to bring new extra-budgetary resources to strengthen and reach the ambitious goals of the UNESCO office in Quito, which serves four countries with political, social, and economic challenges and which expect effective responses: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela.

5. PERFIL PROFESIONAL:

Educación y experiencia:

• University degree in one of the fields of Basic Sciences, Natural Sciences, Environmental Economics or related. (Master's degree is a plus).

Conocimientos, habilidades y destrezas:

• Good analytical, organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collect, consolidate, synthesize, and analyze information from various sources.
• Capacity to build and maintain effective working relations in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment and with relevant institutions, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations.
• Proven ability to communicate and negotiate effectively and persuasively (orally and in writing) with various stakeholders at all levels, within and outside the organization in Basic Sciences.
• Solid IT skills including knowledge of office software.

Idiomas:

• Excellent level of Spanish (native or bilingual), written and spoken.
• Good level of English, written and spoken.

Deseable:

• Management of procedures and management of the United Nations system and UNESCO.

The professional will perform their tasks and responsibilities in person and virtually in the City of Quito, under the overall authority of the Director of the Office and the supervision of the National Officer for Science, of UNESCO in Quito.
