CHAI in partnership with the University of Witwatersrand, Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office and Boston University, School of Public Health and with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, under the guidance of the Ministry of Health has been working on the Alternative Models of ART Delivery: Optimizing Benefits (AMBIT) since 2019. AMBIT is a three-country evaluation of the coverage, uptake, outcomes, benefits, and Costs of differentiated service delivery models (DSD) for HIV treatment. In Malawi, Zambia, and South Africa, AMBIT will access and synthesizes existing data at the patient, facility, partner, and national levels. It also conducts primary data collection studies to help fill in gaps in the existing knowledge base. The scope of work includes accessing, cleaning, and managing existing data sets; participating in stakeholder DSD meetings; leading local data collection efforts as needed; participating in analyses and co-authoring reports and manuscripts as appropriate; and representing the project to the Ministry of Health, implementing partners, funders, and other stakeholders.

CHAI is looking for a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials for the role of Analyst. They will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, from quantitative and qualitative analysis to collaborating with stakeholders and assisting the team with components which will contribute to the research project. They must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence. Reporting to the Senior Research Associate and working closely with other strategic partners, the Analyst will contribute to the design of qualitative and quantitative research studies and manage their execution.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with country teams in designing research protocols, ethics applications and standard operating procedures
  • Assist with the development of data collection, management and analysis tools and templates, including survey tools, observation tools, interview tools, and databases, to ensure rigorous data collection, validation, and analysis for improving research implementation
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation plans through reviewing work plans, reports, organizing and participating in field visits
  • Support the design and implementation of ongoing quality assurance measures for all electronic and paper data collection activities
  • Conducting routine field supervision visits, data collection, and routine data analysis of research data
  • Developing and maintaining program databases and dashboards for performance monitoring and evaluation
  • Compile, synthesize and analyze large datasets
  • Produce compelling presentations and reports and other program materials to ensure effective program execution
  • Support AMBIT team in presenting study results to key stakeholders and support publication and dissemination thereof
  • Perform any other duties assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, public health or a related field
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage, preferably MPH or health economics
  • At least 3-4 years of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector and/or private sector
  • Experience in various quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Experience analyzing large data sets using statistical software package, preferably Stata, SAS, SPSS or R is required
  • Experience using/developing electronic data collection software such as SurveyCTO and RedCap
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in cross functional teams
  • Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience managing field research studies
  • Strong writing and communication skills, including development of compelling presentations with the ability to translate technical content and results into formats suitable for various audiences
  • Meticulous work ethic and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible
