The primary role of Clinical Therapist is to provides culturally and linguistically appropriate individual/family/group counseling services to refugees, asylees, asylum seekers, and foreign national victims of crime using a trauma-informed approach that improves clients’ resiliency, strengths, and skills. This position will work as part of a team and coordinate activities with IRC staff, services providers, and other IRC partners. The Clinical Therapist will also support the outreach activities to raise awareness among community providers regarding mental health needs for IRC client populations.
· Provide intake, and manage assessment, development, and implementation of treatment plans that best meet the clients’ needs; maintain a case load of approximately 20-25 clients. Practice within the scope of the license, education, skills, and competency.
· Provide education, assistance and support to clients’ family members and other relevant parties as appropriate, with client permission, to improve awareness of how to best support and care for those with trauma history, mental and emotional challenges/illness.
· Regularly evaluate efficiency of counseling services and interventions through clinical supervision/consultations and assessments and facilitate the most beneficial interventions and/or referrals.
· Conduct risk and safety assessment and develop a safety plan with each assigned client.
· Assess emergency and crisis situations and take appropriate and necessary steps to ensure clients’ safety.
· Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, case managers and clinical teams; make referrals to other services, supports and resources where needed. Be a strong advocate on behalf or clients to ensure they are receiving adequate and quality services.
· Provide clinical consultation for IRC staff according to standard operating procedure and professional legal/ethical standard.
· Develop or modified group curricula according to program and client needs.
· Arrange for and utilize appropriate interpretation services where needed.
· Provide refugee/immigrant behavioral health related education to the community.
· Provide accurate and detailed documentation, reporting and tracking in a timely manner and according to Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners standards; maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients’ treatment.
· Complete program quarterly tracking and report in a timely manner.
· Participate in clinical supervision, program meetings, staff development activities, clinical consultations, and fully engage as a member of the team.
· Participate in outreach and network capacity-building activities as needed.
· Follow all IRC policies, procedures and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Adult/Child Safeguarding.

· Currently licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LAC, LMSW, LPC, or LCSW), in good standing or the ability to pursue such licensure.
· Master’s degree in social services.
· At least one year of related work experience serving foreign nationals or other vulnerable populations a plus.
· At least two years experience providing mental health therapy, alternative specialty a plus.
· Experience working with a full range of psychological disorders and providing trauma treatment.
· Experience with refugees, asylum seekers, torture survivors, and survivors of human-trafficking preferred.
· Case management and/or victim’s assistance experience preferred.
· Work effectively with service partners, colleagues, and clients in a cross-cultural, team-based environment.
· Trauma experience preferred.
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
· Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
· Self-motivated and ability to work independently and be an excellent teammate
· Excellent writing and analytical skills.
· Public speaking and/or presentation experience preferred.
· Effectively communicate and work as a team member with collaborative partners, the community, and clients in a cross-cultural multi-disciplinary environment.
· Computer literacy, data base experience preferred.
· Excellent written and spoken English skills.
· Proficiency in a second language spoken by the client base strongly preferred.
Certificates or Licenses:
· Must have a valid driver’s license, active insurance policy and access to reliable transportation.
· In accordance with Arizona State Law, must possess or be eligible to receive a fingerprint clearance card.
· Willingness to supervise (clinical/case management) interns/volunteers when ready and appropriate.
· Willingness and ability to drive a 15 passenger van.
· A combination of telehealth, standard office work environment combined with some travel throughout service delivery area for groups, therapy, home visits, partner meetings, etc.
