The Community Health Assistant, will work under direct supervision of Community Health Officer in NWS. She/He will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the CHWs on the field level. As a priority, these activities include promoting, maintaining, and improving the health of people and their families, in addition to regular follow up and referral. Provide social support and informal counseling, advocate for individuals and community health needs, supervise the services provided in home such as, blood pressure screening, , MUAC screening for children and alert the health management of  any malnutrition cases or any potential morbidity cases that need follow up such as cases set in the EWARN system. The  Assistant should provide coaching during community outreach activities, such as home visits, school visits, group education and health screenings that will be required. Follow up on all kind of beneficiary referrals, especially children and people with disabilities. In addition, she/he will coach the CHWs while disseminating key messages on early childhood development (ECD) and conduct ECD sessions and activities for children and their parents.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Community Health Assistant is expected to closely supervise the daily activities of the community health workers.
  • Regular coaching visits, and development of staff tracker to track progress, coaching needs and improvement.
  • Develop weekly and monthly work-plans with coordination with the Community Health Officer.
  • Follow each program activity in the field and guide implementation.
  • Support in identifying the needs and the capacity building of the CHWs and conduct regular refresher training.
  • In collaboration with the community health officer  and the M&E team, ensure the quality of services provided, accurate data collection and tracking of health promotion activities and client satisfaction surveys.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of data collected day by day by the community health workers.
  • Weekly data check and quality audits
  • Follow up with the community health officer to facilitate program activities (Field management, Supply chain, security and humanitarian access, HR, MEAL, and the PHC)
  • Support in Training of new CHWs and coordinate for workshops to build the capacity of the team around community health topics
 

Reporting:

Community Health Assistant, is responsible for regular reporting to the Community Health Officer:

- Check on daily attendance, leaves and approve monthly time sheets of the CHWs.

- Daily follow ups on the full household register form by the CHWs (full beneficiary information, locations, health status, all required screening, all health topics covered ... etc.) based on the approved HH register form by the Community Health Program.

- All health and non-health related referrals in coordination with the community health officer.

- Any major event during visits including any disease outbreaks.

- Coaching/ Supervision forms after each filed visit with recommendations and a plan for the next step.

- Organize all cumulative data on weekly and monthly basis that was collected day by day and report it to the Community Health Officer.

- Any other reports as per the Community Health officer and Community Health Manager request.
