Malteser International (MI) is working in Myanmar since 2001 and currently employs more than 240 national staff in Rakhine, Shan and Kayin states, where our work aims at ensuring communities have access to primary health care services. We also offer comprehensive WASH and disaster risk reduction/climate change adaptation solutions and provide relief after disasters. We strive to enable and empower the most vulnerable communities in marginalized areas through a participatory and sustainable approach.

For its work in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, Myanmar, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Nurse (m/f/d) – National Position.

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of a curative and preventive primary health care program in accordance with national and Malteser International guidelines
  • Ensure the set-up of clinics as required: hygiene, patient registration and other preparation in Rural Health Service Centers
  • Assist in collecting data and report it in a timely manner, especially morbidity data to the Public Health Care (PHC)- Mother and Child Health (MCH) Supervisor/ Manager and to Basic Health Service (BHS) staff as they may require
  • Monitor, verify and report immediately to PHC-MCH Supervisor/ Manager and BHS staff any suspected disease outbreaks or unusual disease trends within the community
  • Manage Malteser pharmacy stock and monthly supply of all its materials and drugs
  • Assist other Malteser International Health Team members in their activities to support the health program
  • Maintain a “client-friendly” atmosphere that is non-judgmental, sensitive and supportive of clients/ patients regardless of their background, with special attention to medical confidentiality

Your profile:

  • Nursing School Graduate with license, BNSc degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in a hospital, INGOs or clinic as Nurse
  • Previous working experience in a rural setting and understanding of challenges faced by rural communities in relation to poor health and lack of knowledge
  • Ability to work independently in a remote area and live with minimum available basic facilities in the field
  • Strong communication as well as interpersonal skills and ability to deal with the local communities, fluency in local languages will be an asset

What we offer:

  • Start Date: as soon as possilbe
  • Duty Station: Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, Myanmar
  • Duration of contract: until 30th April 2023
  • Salary according to qualification and experience, Plus, location specific allowance, 13th month salary, contract end benefit and health insurance package
