West Kalimantan Field Facilitator and Engagement Officer

Overview

To support coordinated and integrated engagement with stakeholders that drives learning and innovation among all involved in province and district Level and to support the data collection and data base management of ongoing research and project implementation by CIFOR-ICRAF Indonesia especially in West Kalimantan. This aim encompasses the giving and assisting of strategic information and research results designed to promote effectively towards a sustainable peat management and restoration, integrated land and seascape, green growth, sustainable development goals, and strong partnership with all local stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

Research

  • Support data preparation, data collection, and data management for Peat IMPACT project and other Project and activities in West Kalimantan
  • Conduct secondary data collection and compilation for peat, green economic, agroforestry, land use, and land scape and seascape topics.
  • Support in developing user guide/protocol many lands use assessment and plan module. This will include testing the user guide with potential user during a training session and implementation.
  • Support database management of Peat IMPACTSand other local database under CIFOR-ICRAF Indonesia contribution in local level.
  • Support field data collection process during the project implementation and report the result to relevant researcher and Province Coordinator.
  • Support the engagement process with key government officials in West Kalimantan, Kubu Raya District, other districts, FMU and other district agencies with regards to primary and secondary data collection, interview and also group discussion
  • Support the daily management and implementation of the data management by day-to-day supervision of program and coordination of activities in the districtlevel.
  • In collaboration with project leader, WP leader, and province engagement coordinator, ensure necessary program planning, development and implementation at provincial and district level function smoothly and efficiently
  • Liaise the primary and secondary data and overall program implementation at the province, district and village level and provides recommend and supports to resolve issues in the field.
  • Monitor the activities regularly and report the necessary information and progress to immediate supervisor.

Communication, Partnership, and Networking

  • Support and maintain strategic collaboration of CIFOR-ICRAF Indonesia, project, and field office with stakeholders, beneficiaries, and partners in West Kalimantan and surrounding area.
  • Support in establish and maintain positive working relations withpartners and relevant stakeholders in community to ensure cooperation and success of project implementation.
  • Maintain linkages with local NGOs, CSOs, social groups, government departments for different and comprehensive development activities
  • Provide support to the development of communication and partnership arrangements.
  • Remain in close contacts with the local elders. Pass on immediately their problems to respective working group, or project consortium for timely solution.
  • Support proactive measures and liaise with regional office, partner organizations and local official.

Project and Unit Management

  • Support of financial accountability procedures for ICRAF office in selected district level to include the timely and accurate submission of all required financial reports.
  • Co-lead of logistics support, to include base management, supply inventory, and vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist province engagement coordinator in the preparation of semi-annual and annual report (financial and operational).
  • Monitor project activities and prepare timely field progress
  • Identify keep accurate recording and archiving of all activities, including financial records, data, pictures, attendance sheets, activity reports, correspondence, etc.
  • Assist of development a coordination mechanism for the collaborating partners of the project.
  • Assist preparation all logistical matters related to workshop, trainings, and meetings
  • Prepare schedule for field activities, surveys and training programs, including identification of local partners, who are potentially interested in the Project.


Education, knowledge and experience

  • Educational background (bachelor’s degree) in forestry, geography, statistics, agriculture, development study, law, politics, social science and / or other related fields.
  • Minimum 2 (two) years of a successful work experience record in the subject area (s) related to project management & implementation and engagement activities with local government especially in West Kalimantan. Demonstrated self-motivational and result-oriented nature; good planning and problem analyzing/solving skills.
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in project management preferable with NGO background.

Personal attributes and competencies

  • Good knowledge of the area/region and its local customs.
  • Familiar with local government structure and understood to its specific function and their role in overall local government operationalisation
  • Good networking skills and knowledge on local and national NGOs in Indonesia
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, or any office application).
  • Basic administrative and documentation skills.
  • Well organized; able to meet deadlines, good understanding of time management.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in multi-cultural teams.
  • Good knowledge of communication (Indonesian and English).
  • Willing to learn new skills/knowledge related to the scope/content of the specific projects.
  • Willing to receive feedback from others.
  • Competent in personal organization and priority setting, with the ability to work effectively under time pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrates initiative, capable of working independently and as an effective team player.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with people in a multi?disciplinary and multi?cultural environment.
  • Experience working with a wide and diverse network of groups and individuals.
  • Has a vision to develop the organization and an intention of continuous improvement.
  • Willing to learn new skills/knowledge related to the scope/content of the specific projects.
  • Generates creative, practical approaches to overcome challenging situations.
  • Willing to receive feedback from others.

Terms and conditions

  • This is a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.
  • The appointment will be for 1 (one) year, inclusive of a six-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
  • The duty station will be in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
