Specific Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of a technical officer/coordinator, conduct needs assessments, verification and data collection to identify cases for shelter & WASH assistance in refugee camps and host communities.
- Supervise distributions, and participate in technical training for refugees and host communities.
- Monitor loading and offloading of shelter/wash materials and verify materials meet technical specifications.
- Provide direction, assigns tasks and give instructions to daily workers (e.g. trainers) and evaluate individual performance.
- Monitor the progress of activities of assigned daily workers and ensure they are implemented to planning and quality standards.
- Take part in the mobilization of refugee and host communities for awareness campaigns and for conducting research using focus group discussions, interviews and questionnaires.
- Conduct outreach activities within the camps and serve as a link between NRC programs and the local community, ensuring their input into shelter/wash programme activities.
- Establish excellent relations with beneficiaries including understanding the needs of beneficiaries through regular visits and frequent contact.
- Perform any other task as requested by the line manager or senior management as per needs.
Context/ Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- A degree in architecture, engineering, or project management OR a proven vocational experience in construction management.
- Energetic and motivated individuals with a passion for humanitarian work and a desire to work with Rohingya refugees and the host community
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and strictly following communication tree, fluency in the Bangla language (ability to communicate in the Chittagonian dialect), Knowledge of the Burmese language is an asset
- Prior experience with local or international NGOs in support of refugee populations is an asset.
- Able to maintain smooth, clear and professional communication with the beneficiaries
- Professional communication skills in dealing with external partners and internal departments at NRC
- Knowledge of the software programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
