This UNOPS position at LICA4 level is advertised and open to all applicants.

Candidates must meet the essential minimum requirements of the position and candidates not citizens of the country must comply with all eligibility requirements for employment in line with the prevailing legislative prerequisites in the country. Organizational Setting and Work Relationships

The Communications Assistant will report to the Communications Officer and will have regular contacts within the office/unit involving exchange of information.  S/he will also have limited external contacts on routine matters.

Operational Context

The Communication/PI Assistant will report to the Head of Sub-Office and will have regular contacts within the Public Information Unit involving exchange of information. The incumbent will support the elaboration and implementation of the Office's Public Information strategy, including the coordination with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers. The Communication/PI assist will support the Sub-Office Boa Vista to implement the internal communications products and the elaboration of external and internal reports.

The incumbent will support the Senior Communication Assistant with media requests, liaise with other external entities/partners regarding public information activities and produce original content for UNHCR communication channels, ensuring the visibility of UNHCR and partners in this operation, always taking into account protection concerns and the best interest of beneficiaries. The nature of certain tasks requires discretion and confidentiality as per UNHCR standards and practices.

To step up a response to the ongoing arrival of Venezuelans in Roraima and Amazonas, UNHCR has strengthened its presence in that region to better provide basic humanitarian assistance and to support government registration, documentation and RSD processed as advocating for alternative legal pathways with protection safeguards. The Office has been also an active supporter of the voluntary relocation programme (also known as "interiorization"), implemented by the federal government since March 2018 to facilitate greater prospects for integration and to relieve the pressure on the state of Roraima. Since the end of August, the Government has accelerated the relocation process and substantially increased departures, with the aim of relocating 3,000-5,000 persons by the end of 2018.

Apart from the Venezuelan Situation, the Public Information Unit performs several other activities to highlight the plight of refugees and their achievements, to strengthen UNHCR brand visibility, to increase engagement with the refugee cause, to recognize donor's contribution and to promote a more favorable protection environment. In Boa Vista, the Public Information Unit also support in actions of Communications with Communities and is responsible of projects to stop the spread of rumors' and fake news among the people of concern.

Duties
¿ Ensure effective communications, visibility and knowledge management within UNHCR Roraima and to external audience.
¿ Support donor relations and donors visibility
¿ Undertake filed visits to gather the information and results related to the program
¿ Develop visibility material such as UNHCR webstories, social media content, FB ads, Twits, leaflets, monthly newsletter, share stories with HQ for special events.
¿ With input from the national Associate Reporting Officer and Program Officer, support to produce high quality program progress reports as per donors and UNHCR requirements
¿ Provide through progress reporting continuous analysis of the achievements, facilitate project review, evaluation and audits.
¿ Support Public Information activities of pacific coexistence
¿ Support the Senior Public Information Assistant in Media Relations
¿ Perform other related duties as required.

Or Completion of the Secondary Education with post-secondary training in Journalism, Advertisement, International Relations or related field and minimum 3 years of previous relevant job experience.

Language Requirements
