We Effect is a development organisation founded by the Swedish cooperative movement in 1958 to support the development of democratic organisations and societies. In our international development cooperation programmes, we are applying a human rights-based approach supporting people living in poverty to secure their rights.

We Effect in Eastern Africa is present in and implements country development programmes in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, with country offices in Dar es salaam and Kampala while the Regional Office is in Nairobi.

We Effect, Regional Office of Eastern Africa (ROEA), is now recruiting an experienced Regional Human Resources Officer. The position is part of the Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

About you

You have several years of experience in working in Human Resources within a civil society context or international development cooperation. As a Regional Human Resources Officer, you are aware of employment trends and labour laws and have an interest in keeping up with emerging knowledge in the field. You have excellent written communication skills for writing contributions to We Effects HR policies and job descriptions and for helping employees understand the rules and expectations of working with We Effect. You also have excellent skills in public speaking and general oral communication to lead new employee orientations and workshops. As Regional Human Resources Officer, you must have an ability to manage information and organise it for easy access and determine the most useful structure for each department. You are mature and experienced in mediating conflicts between employees and helping all employees receive appropriate accommodations. You are a problem solver that drives progress and innovation and prevents employee turnover. As a Regional Human Resources Officer, you should have a high level of integrity and trustworthiness.

 You equally share the organisation's vision of a sustainable and just world for all, free from poverty.

 Required qualifications 

·      Academic degree in Human Resources or any other related field.

·      Minimum of five years of work experience in civil society organisations and/or international development cooperation.

·      Experience in Human Resources from an international development cooperation.

·   Strong communication skills, works well in a team, excellent deadline management skills and ease to work towards set goals.

·     Excellent English skills, both spoken and written.

·     A member of an HR or any other relevant professional body.

·     Proficiency in computer skills.

·     Able and willing to travel when required. 

 

Merits

·   Appreciation of labour laws in the following three East African countries; Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, is considered an added advantage.
