Organizational Setting

The position is located at the FAO Representation in Georgia under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD) programme. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.


Reporting Lines

Under the overall responsibility of the FAO Representative and the Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia and the direct supervision of the FAO Programme Coordinator, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds, under the ENPARD programme


Technical Focus

The Driver provides driving services to the FAO national staff and FAO international staff on mission.


Tasks and responsibilities

• Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents, procurement items, etc and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.
• Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
• Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
• Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
• Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
• Any other duties as required by Supervisor

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Secondary education, valid driver’s license;
• 3 years’ work experience as a driver;
• Safe driving record;
• Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair;
• Fluency in Georgian;
• Fluency of English language will be an asset;
• National of the country of assignment.
