ICRISAT seeks applications for the position of Officer – Software Development to work for Genebank Cluster under Accelerated Crop Improvement Program.  The position will be based at ICRISAT Patancheru, Telangana State.  The incumbents will perform all tasks under the direction of the Head– Genebank, Accelerated Crop Improvement Program and collaborate with Head– Information Technology and Systems as a matrix manager for technological design, develop and implementation.

We are looking for a dedicated application developer to work with Genebank, to design, develop new applications as per requirement and enhance existing applications as per the business requirement using latest technologies.


To be successful as an application developer, you should have a sound knowledge of software engineering as well as excellent analytical skills. Research the technology trends as well as user needs and develop cutting-edge applications.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of SDLC of applications development, support, and implementation.
  • Study and evaluate user/ business challenges and assess Genebank Cluster needs and identify the problems to provide efficient effective solutions.
  • Prepare the technical design specifications and assist in sizing technical requirements as well as resource needs such as data process map, time, and budget estimates.
  • Develop digital solutions as applications and tools that meet the specifications provided and accurately code new or existing programs. Integrate solutions with the applicable processes, applications, and systems.
  • Troubleshoot existing software application to identify errors or deficiencies and develop fixes to correct errors and provide ongoing maintenance of applications.
  • Evaluate existing applications being used and provide recommendations for improving application performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications.
  • Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/ results before deployment is complete.
  • Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems.
  • Evaluate new application packages and tools and perform research on best practices.
  • Perform creation and maintenance of database as per the requirement of application as well as the business process.
  • Collaborate with Crop Trust Unit for the orientation / training and ensure data is collected in proper format and updated in the Genbank database.
  • Coordinate with regional Genebanks colleagues and provide orientation / training along with required documentation.
  • Create, deploy, and generate annual, SMTA, ORT and required reports as and when required.
  • Ensure security compliances are implemented as per the instruction of Information Services and maintain production, test servers by collaborating with Information Services.

Requirements:

  • 7–8 years of programming experience with at least 4 years in advanced programming techniques and application design.
  • At least 4–5 years of experience in development life cycle of systems and Genebank digital solution along with Genebank database and activities is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree in Programming/Systems, Computer Science, or other related field.
  • Working knowledge on databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks and integration methodologies.
  • Able to design database and understand complex database design. Handled system design, programming and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging information technology products, services and processes that are required.
  • Basic knowledge to handle Network, Barcode, hardware components, troubleshoot internet will be added advantages.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated Strong knowledge of coding in ASP.Net MVC, and frameworks AngularJS.
  • Strong hands-on experience working with python programming language and its framework Django or Flask.
  • React Native for mobile application development add more impact.
  • Experience with data interchange formats such as XML and JSON and knowledge on how to interact with RESTful APIs.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems architecture, middleware or object-oriented analysis and design.
  • Knowledge of working with GitHub and experience working on IIS, Apache HTTP, or any other web server.

General:

This is a contractual position for a period of 3 years.
