Senior Accounting Officer

 

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. The Senior Accounting Officer will be responsible for assisting in AIIB’s financial accounting and reporting, particularly in the preparation of management reports and project initiatives involving complex accounting matters. They will be involved in various financial analysis functions and system innovation programs. They will be reporting to the Office of the Controller.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the overall financial accounting and reporting of the Controller’s Office.
  • Apply accounting principles to complex accounting matters, including hedge accounting and accounting impacts relating to hedging strategy, accounting for derivatives and investment portfolios, debt and equity feature analysis, and other comprehensive income components.
  • Assist in analyzing accounting treatments and the impact of new contracts and financial products and perform valuations.
  • Prepare management reports and perform financial analysis, including profitability/yield analysis and revenue center reporting, cost of funding allocations, etc. Provide financial data to support Management’s critical business decisions. 
  • Lead accounting and finance project initiatives, build up network and task forces across departments and across teams.
  • Address accounting and reporting issues with the relevant business units, ensure consistency and quality of reporting by interfacing regularly with each unit and formulate approaches to improve interactions and efficiency.
  • Participate in IT system-related projects and process improvements.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant practical experience working in a multilateral development bank, international financial institution, or large organization.
  • Solid GAAP knowledge and experience in IFRS or USGAAP, especially knowledge and experience in measurement of financial instruments, hedge accounting, fair value measurement, revenue recognition, financial guarantee contracts, etc.
  • Strategic problem solver with high sensitivity and sound knowledge of financial accounting and reporting.
  • Strong financial analysis skills. Knowledge of SAP will be an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in written and oral English communication.
  • Team player who can communicate for results.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in accounting and/or finance. A Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation from a reputable and internationally recognized institution would be an advantage.
