Background:

At work today in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, we restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. The IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC has been working in Uganda since 1998 supporting IDPs, refugees and various institutions in the country notably the government, community-based organizations, the civil society and the private sector. The current program portfolio in Uganda includes health, economic recovery and development, protection, and prevention and response to gender-based violence (GBV). IRC has its country office in Kampala and works in Yumbe/Bidibidi, Arua/Imvepi and Omugo, Kitgum, Moroto, Kiryandongo and Kyegegwa/Kyaka. 

IRC is the lead health, nutrition, and protection IP for UNHCR implementing in the whole of Bidibidi settlement. The IRC is part of the Inter-Agency coordination forum as well as participating in the various technical working groups at settlement and district level (Nutrition, Mental health, health, Protection, GBV). With funding from BPRM and UNHCR, the IRC is implementing Women Protection and Empowerment activities including the provision of comprehensive response services to survivors of GBV and conducting GBV prevention activities within Bidibidi settlement, including maintaining women and girls’ centers, and operationalizing a protection house for POCs


SCOPE OF WORK

The WPE Protection house cook will ensure the preparation and serving of food to POCs at the protection houses.

Work schedule:

The WPE Protection house cook will work from 7:00am to 6:00pm and is expected to work 7 days per week, for 12 hours per day at the protection house in Bidibidi.

Specific Responsibilities:

 Plans, prepares and serves attractive and nutritionally balanced meals for the PoCs at the

 

Protection House, portion control and a balanced diet.


Utilize Production Worksheets to plan proper amounts of ingredients to prepare menu items sufficient for the number of clients to be served.


Ensure food store is well stocked and share daily updates on food availability with the protection house assistant.


Ensure that food supplies are securely stored.


Maintaining the highest level of sanitation including washing the dishes and cutleries, proper disposal of domestic’s waste and personal hygiene

Always wearing proper cooking attire (i.e., apron, hat or hair net, gloves, etc.).


Ensuring that all dining tables and chairs, kitchen, cooking related areas and equipment are clean and in good working order at all times.


Compiling and sharing weekly report and submit to the protection house assistant
Ensure timely work.


The Protection house cook will work from Monday to Sunday on rotational basis.
Maintain the highest level of confidentiality about who they see and or know at the protection house.


Assist the Protection House caretaker with ordering food and supplies as necessary International
