Background: AUMCO
The Austria Multi-Country Office (AUMCO) was set up in August 2019 as a part of the UNOPS Europe & Central Asia Region (ECR). Specifically, AUMCO aims to enable achievement of Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement through global programmes and tailored interventions in the Balkans, South Caucasus, and Central Asia, focused on:

Project “Support to Development of Oncology Services Project in Uzbekistan (Phase II)” 
Funded through a major loan from the Islamic Development Bank and in line with SDG3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), UNOPS will support the Government of Uzbekistan in strengthening the preparedness of its national healthcare system, and preventing and treating oncological cases in an effective and timely manner. By identifying, procuring, delivering and operationalizing urgently needed medical, laboratory, radiological and ICT equipment, the project will significantly contribute to improved access and quality healthcare services for local communities in 14 regional locations including Tashkent and throughout the country.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Support Service Management, and in coordination with the relevant Project Manager, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services for the transport of the UNOPS personnel and other travelers. He/She has a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

The incumbent may be asked to undertake regular missions and official travels to project sites.

  1. Provides reliable and secure driving services by a) driving vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel and other travelers; b) collecting and delivering mail, documents and other items; and c) meeting guests at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required. Other logistical tasks as will be required.
  2. Ensures proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  3. Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs; and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean and fueled. 
  4. Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
  5. Ensures that immediate steps as required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education: 

  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent is required.
  • A driver training certification with a valid driver's license is required.
  • Diploma or certification in administration-related subjects or business administration would be an asset.
  • Specialized UN or international organization driving training certificate is an asset
Experience: 

  • 2 years of driving experience is required at the national level
  • Experience in working in UN and/or international organizations as a driver or logistician is desirable
Language Requirements:
  • Fluence in Russian and/or Uzbek language is required.
  • Working knowledge of the English language is an asset.
