Job Overview

The External Relations (ER) department was created in February 2020 and is comprised of 3 main but complementary functions: Private fundraising, Communications and Policy & Advocacy. The ER department is two years into a 5 year ground-breaking and ambitious global strategy that will improve IRC’s ability to ‘punch above its weight’ in private income, advocacy and brand awareness. The main objective of the department is to enable this organization of more than 12,000 staff to have the resources needed to continue serving 18 million people worldwide in places affected by war and disaster, shape the humanitarian sector by influencing key policies and reforms, and build and grow IRC’s reputation.

The Associate Director, Global Analytics will shape the strategy of marketing analytics for the Communications and Mass Marketing fundraising teams within ER, bring our marketing data, analytics and reporting capabilities into the 21st century and be a critical thought partner to the Director, Global Analytics and ER leadership on how to optimize our strategy and investments based on data-driven decision making.

Major responsibilities:

      Lead and coach a team of six professionals to extract insights that drive strategy. Champion an environment that cultivates continuous improvement in statistics, coding, analysis, and collaboration with our partners.

      Develop a marketing analytics roadmap that enables intelligent decisions, supports bold marketing goals, and drives decisions for investments, segmentation and creative across online and offline channels, and multiple markets.

      Work closely with our partner teams across IT and External Relations to identify and implement projects that achieve organizational goals. Communicate analytics priorities with clarity and a partner-centric approach.

      Develop quantitative analyses, ad hoc reports, and models to support marketing decision-making. Analysis areas include, but are not limited to, donor segmentation, marketing attribution, external benchmarking, attrition modeling, web and social media analytics, experimental design & A/B testing, lead scoring, survey design, net lifetime value, brand awareness measurement, and time series forecasting.

      Lead all aspects of the development and management of a suite of PowerBI dashboards and reports across all markets that provides reliable insights and visualization into performance across critical metrics, and inform new opportunities & strategies as needed.

      Build and maintain data governance documentation and user guides for the marketing analytics program.

      Partner with the Financial Planning & Management team to set marketing targets and improve revenue forecasting and donor lifetime value projections.

      Collaborate closely with the Director of Global Analytics, the Analytics Engineer, and the Data Architect to enhance the analytics data stack and maintain and improve the ER analytics data models as the single source of truth.

Job requirements

Work experience

      6+ years working in analytics

      2+ years of experience recruiting, training, and supervising the development of team members

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

      Hands on approach to analysis – curious and eager to explore sophisticated and ambiguous problems and deliver practical insights through both quantitative and qualitative data analysis.

      Outstanding leadership and social skills, including experience collaborating across multiple offices with distributed teams, and delivering on roadmaps.

      Superb communication skills: ability to “tell a story” with numbers in a variety of formats: dashboards, memos, and presentations.

      Significant prior experience with SQL and experience with Python/R or other statistical programming language.

      Experience in marketing analytics or e-commerce (return on investment analysis, pricing or promotions, customer targeting and segmentation, etc.). Exposure to more sophisticated methodologies such as experimental design, marketing attribution, knowledge of dimensional modeling.

      Experience crafting dashboard reporting in PowerBI or a similar BI tool.

      Ability to work independently with attention to detail and quality, delivering timely results.

      Desire to work in a multi-cultural environment and collaborate with people from different backgrounds and experiences, with a partner-first approach in a mission-drive organization.

      Experience crafting reporting and analysis pipelines with Synapse

      Knowledgeable and passionate about the “modern data stack”

      Familiarity with PowerBI

      Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM technology

Working Environment:

      Standard office working environment.

      Some international travel.

      This role may require working remotely full or part time and part time remote employees may be required to share workspace.
