Our team and mission

The Communication Department is responsible for the definition of the ESA Communication strategy and policy and its implementation Agency-wide, in cooperation with ESA Directors and under guidance by the Director General. The Department provides communication support for the preparation of future programme decisions and for ensuring wide support for the Agency by significantly increasing the awareness of ESA and space among the general public, policy and decision makers as well as the science and engineering community in Member States. The Department is the Agency’s focal point for all interactions with media, managing media relations and video productions ESA-wide, and defining and managing the implementation of ESA policies on social media.

 

The ESA Branding and Partnerships Office is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the ESA Brand Identity as well as leading the creation of ESA strategic communication partnerships. The mission of the team is to enhance ESA pride with the final objective of increasing ESA brand awareness through the management of coherent ESA brand solutions and the creation of new partnerships that bring ESA closer to the public.

Field(s) of activity for the internship

Topic: 3D design, visualisation and illustration on ESA branding.

 

Creation of 3D designs, visuals and illustrations on the topic of the ESA brand (logo, patches, spacecrafts, signs, typography) based on a briefing by ESA Communications. You will learn how to deal with a simple briefing, to collect ideas from other members of the team, to present one or more proposals matching the briefing.  

 

The challenge will also be to transform and integrate bi-dimensional graphical elements with three dimensional ones and to illustrate topics that require the creation of brand-new images. You will become familiar with ESA ways of doing communication, developing campaigns and generate mood-boards and key visuals to make the ESA event more memorable.

Education

You must have student status and be enrolled at university for the entire duration of the internship. You should preferably be in your final or second to last year of a university course at master’s level in a technical or scientific discipline.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

 

Educational knowledge: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc), 3D modeling softwares (e.g. Dimension, Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, etc), communication and presentation skills, creativity would be an asset.
