Our team and mission

The Communication Department is responsible for the definition of the ESA Communication strategy and policy and its implementation Agency-wide, in cooperation with ESA Directors and under guidance by the Director General. The Department provides communication support for the preparation of future programme decisions and for ensuring wide support for the Agency by significantly increasing the awareness of ESA and space among the general public, policy and decision makers as well as the science and engineering community in Member States. The Department is the Agency’s focal point for all interactions with media, managing media relations and video productions ESA-wide, and defining and managing the implementation of ESA policies on social media.

 

The Digital Media Production Office is responsible for carrying out and coordinating the planning, technical management, implementation, and publishing of ESA’s digital media and online channels. You will be placed within the ESA video team, which falls within the Digital Media Production Office.

Field(s) of activity for the internship

Topic: Video production support to the Digital Media Production Office

 

The main activities of the internship will be to provide support to the video production team. You will be asked to assist in any or all phases of the video production process, including concept development, logistical coordination, shooting, animating, sound editing and video editing for multiple distribution channels. 


Through these activities, you will develop skills across the production phases, learn how to transform corporate messaging into visual digital communication products, and gain a deeper knowledge of European space activities.  Time permitting and based on the your individual skill set, support for other video-related activities within the Digital Media Production Office may be requested, such as compiling viewer statistics, assisting with live web streaming, and assessing video distribution platforms.

Education

You must have student status and be enrolled at university for the entire duration of the internship. You should preferably be in your final or second to last year of a university course at master’s level in a technical or scientific discipline.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

 

Educational knowledge: 

  • A good working level of the English language is required. Any additional European languages are an added bonus.
  • We are looking for someone creative, a team player, self-driven and feels comfortable working in a multi-cultural environment. Familiarity with the production process and hands-on experience with video production hardware and software is a must.
