Responsibilities


Job Summary


The Operations and Planning Branch (OPB) plans, coordinates and monitors all OPCW missions.


The OPB logistics section provides the OPCW Inspection Team and other staff of the Technical Secretariat with the equipment and material support required for their inspections and missions.
It ensures the compliance of the Inspection Equipment (IE) with relevant provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).


Main Responsibilities


Senior Equipment Technician will have the following duties:


  • Assuming responsibility for all pharmaceutical requirements and medical equipment in supporting OPCW activities, under the supervision of the ES Team Leader.

  • Performing Mask Fit Tests, maintaining a comprehensive stock of Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) for all OPCW Inspectors and prepare Team Decontamination Line equipment for Inspection Teams, in the absence of the primary-assigned staff.

  • Assuming responsibility for the specifically assigned equipment requested for OPCW mission activities.

  • Mission support process (preparation, issue and receipt of all inspection equipment and its documentation prior to and upon completion of the mission)

  • Perform other duties relevant to the post (as assigned by the supervisor)

Qualifications and Experience


Education


Essential:


High School Diploma with related experience or equivalent diploma of higher secondary education.


 


Knowledge and Experience


Make sure you have: 


Essential: 



  • A minimum of 4 years of experience with knowledge of pharmaceutical items, local regulations, and experience in operating various medical equipment

  • Experience in stock management, inventorying of assets and procurement processes

  • Experience in working with medical information systems.

  • Possess ability to analyse data


Desirable: 



  • First Aid Competency

  • Relevant technical profile

  • Basic knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations

  • Certificate for operating forklifts by a Dutch Occupational Health and Safety recognised institution


Skills and Competencies


To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and competencies: 



  • Asset management and inventory management systems

  • Life cycle management and maintenance planning systems

  • Workplace health and safety management

  • Material handling (including operating licence for forklifts and palette loaders)

  • Transportation, packaging and handling of dangerous goods – especially medical and pharmaceutical products

  • Office 365

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Effective organisational skills and ability to handle a large volume of work in an efficient and timely manner

  • Flexibility to be able and willing to perform different activities to support operations, often at short notice


Languages


Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.


Additional Information


Staff members in the General Services category are normally recruited and paid on a local basis.



This appointment is for the duration of two years, with a six-month probationary period, and is subject to the OPCW Staff Regulations and Interim Staff Rules.



The mandatory age of separation at the OPCW is 65 years.



Fixed-term staff members participate in the OPCW provident fund. A monthly staff contribution is met with a doubled amount by the OPCW to ensure separating staff have the capital necessary to move on to new challenges.



The Director-General retains the discretion to not make any appointment to this vacancy, to make an appointment at a lower grade, or to make an appointment with a modified job description. Several vacancies may be filled.
