CHAI Zambia’s COVID-19 Quick Start Program:

 

The Ministry of Health (MOH) in collaboration with CHAI with support from the Duke Consortium and the Global Fund is implementing and assessing the impact of COVID-19 test and treat (T&T) demonstration program, titled “COVID-19 Quick Start Program”. The MoH in collaboration with CHAI will implement SARS-CoV-2 antigen testing programs linked to patient triage and initiation of eligible patients on a complete course of oral antivirals for COVID-19.

 

In line with the above, CHAI, in collaboration with the MOH will implement the oral antiviral introduction and operational research titled, “Evaluation of a COVID-19 Quick Start Test and Treat model in Africa”. The primary purpose of this work is to support activities related to new product introduction and the implementation of operational research which will involve data collection, analysis, reporting and interpretation and dissemination.

 

CHAI requires a dynamic, results-oriented individual with strong assimilation, understanding and coordination skills to lead data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination on behalf of the program. The applicant should have experience and a strong record of participating in health research to take up the role of Senior Program Officer, COVID-19 Test and Treat Program.

 

Based in Lusaka, this Senior Program Officer will be part of the Infectious and Non-infectious Diseases cluster working under the supervision of the Program Manager.  CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, responsibility, tenacity, independence, energy and work.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate activities related to the implementation of the COVID-19 Quick Start Test and Treat Program.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the development of detailed time-bound work and action plans to address program needs.
  • Support the design and implementation of processes, systems for collection, collation, and synthesis of program data to inform program strategy, operations and reviews.
  • Support the test and treat operational research (OR) component through protocol adaptation/finalization, facility data collection, analysis, and reporting, including cleaning and managing data obtained for the study and respond to data set queries.
  • Communicate with the OR study team by organizing and coordinating meetings to discuss activities, progress and challenges.
  • Organizing and participating in health facility supervision visits in collaboration with MoH and other partners.
  • Provide updates in technical meetings, workshops and any other relevant meetings.
  • Submit monthly technical program reports summarizing the activities conducted under this award, in particular achievements and challenges.
  • Support logistics and supply chain management of COVID-19 tests and Paxlovid at national and facility levels.
  • Disseminate key learnings from program implementation with Ministry of Health partners, funders, other implementing partners and CHAI management and program teams.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, or Social Sciences
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
  • At least 3-4 years of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector and/or private sector
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as part of a multi-disciplinary country team
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment
  • Experience implementing research or evaluation projects
  • Experience extracting data from electronic health data systems
  • Experience in Microsoft office and data analysis using at least one statistical analysis package (Excel, SPSS, Epi-data, STATA)
  • Experience training and managing data collection teams
