Overview of position
  • Our client is an operaonal arm of the UN, supporng the successful implementaon of their partners’ peacebuilding, humanitarian & development projects around the world. Their mission is to help people build beer lives & countries achieve sustainable development.

  • Their areas of experse cover infrastructure, procurement, project management, financial management & human resources.

  • The Photographer roster represents a pool of experienced professionals who will be employed to deliver a series of photos on our clients sub projects (before the intervenon, during the intervenon & final compleon to show impact & result of sub projects) taking into consideraon all safety measures in place, organized events, visits, electronic archiving.etc.

  • The main objecve of this TOR is to hire a short term Photographer who shall take & collect photos for all sub projects located in the different governorates in Yemen under the YIUSEP II project. The Photographer shall work under the Communicaons Officer & in coordinaon with the City Engineer or as requested to achieve the objecve & the scope of the assignment.

Role objectives

Under the overall guidance of the Communicaons Officer & under the direct coordinaon with City Engineers in the field, the Photographer is expected to take high quality photos. All photos for our client need to be delivered in raw file format & exported in a format opmized for use in publicaons, disseminaon, or broadcasng via various media plaorms.The Photographer should use his / her own professional equipment for photography. In addion to that the Photographer should include a simple capon for each photo that gives a brief descripon of the photo. The Photographer will be responsible for the following dues:

  • Capture high resoluon images before intervenon & during implementaon for several stages & finally aer completion to document impact & the result of each sub project & events related to the implementaon of our clients activities & programs, at various locaons.

  • Provide a set of no less than 20 selected images from each sub project / event / assignment, unless otherwise requested by the City Engineer.

  • Provide specific details such as geographical locaon, sub project name, locaon name, time of photo taken, for each photo.

  • Capons should be embedded in the jpeg images & provided in a separate text document.

  • Provide a set of no less than 3 selected images (before & after from the same view angle) from each sub project, unless otherwise requested by the Communicaons Officer.

  • Photographers will abide by our clients copyright rules & regulaons. Any / all material produced for our client (per request of our client) is the sole owner & as such cannot be distributed or shared with any 3rd party (media outlet, publishing agency, organizaon, or person) except per specific request of the communicaons unit.

  • The Photographer should be able to travel around different locaons in Yemen.

  • Consent form (client release form) to be used by the Photographer if any photos of people were taken.

Project reporting

The Photographer shall work under the Communicaons Officer & in coordinaon with the City Engineer or as requested to achieve the objecve & the scope of the assignment.

Key competencies
  • High School Diploma is required, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicaons or related field with 1 year of experience is an asset.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in photography or related fields, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicaons or related field with 1 year of experience may be accepted.

  • Advanced knowledge & skills of MS Office, including light room, Adobe Photoshop & other eding tools are required.

  • Solid experience in processing & editing photo is required.

  • Experience in working with the G-Suite platform including Google Drive, Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Sheets, Docs & Slides is desired.

  • Fluency in English & Arabic is required.
