Department

The position is located in the Facilities Management Unit (FACILITIES) within the Administration and Internal Services Department (INTSERV). The department is responsible for the overall management of facilities, property and inventory, safety and security, printing, publishing and distribution, diplomatic privileges, travel and transportation, use of public space and general internal services. The unit is responsible for overseeing the construction, acquisition, allocation and maintenance of all ILO buildings and offices, as well as the efficient provision and management of all goods and services required internally for this purpose.

Learning areas

The intern will be required to assist in the implementation of a new Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) software and its administration. The intern will also be responsible for maintaining the ILO's inventory of movable assets and the architectural plans for the building and making any necessary technical and structural changes.

Required profile

Education

First degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Real Estate and its Management, General Services or related field. The candidate should be enrolled in their final year of graduate degree program or should have completed such a program no longer than 1 years ago.

Experience

Initial experience in the building or facilities management field.

Languages

Excellent command of one official language (French, English, Spanish) of the Organization.  Working knowledge of another official language of the Organization.

Competencies

  • Good writing and communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of information technology and interest in specializing in information management and business process software.
  • Ability to use Word, Spreadsheets, MS Teams, database and other software and support systems in managing the integrated workspace.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks according to instructions and guidelines.
  • bility to work cooperatively with different stakeholders and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and demonstrate non-discriminatory and gender-sensitive behaviour.

Additional requirements

Knowledge of building design software, such as AUTOCAD.

Selection process:

 

Following a first screening by the Human Resources Development Department (HRD), hiring departments will short-list applicants. You will be directly contacted should an internship opportunity match your profile. If you have not been contacted by any department within six months after your application, you can consider that you have not been selected by any department for this roster. If still eligible, you may apply to the next roster. 

 

If shortlisted, you may be contacted by the hiring department for a written test and/or interview. The ILO may use communication technologies such as Skype, Video or teleconference, e-mail, etc for the assessment and evaluation of candidates.

 

Stipend:

 

As an intern in Geneva, you will receive a stipend of 2450 CHF per month from the ILO, unless you receive funding through another institution (for example your university or a foundation). If you receive partial funding, ILO will cover the difference to ensure you receive 2450 CHF per month. Your travel to Geneva will be at your own expense.

 

Insurance:

 

Please note that the ILO does not take responsibility for any costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the internship. You will be responsible for your own insurance coverage for illness and accidents for the duration of the internship at the duty station (whether Geneva or the field).
