Duties and Responsibilities

BACKGROUND

The Department of Security Risk Management (DSRM) supports the UNRWA mandate by providing guidance, support, training, and facilitating risk-informed decision-making through ad hoc analysis for programmes in all environments. DSRM strives to ensure that crosscutting issues including gender and protection are integrated into all the Department’s initiatives and efforts by focusing on four main pillars:

1. Capacity Building
2. Operational Support
3. ARC services (Analysis, Reporting, and Communication)
4. Security Governance

DSRM engages with the Inter-Agency Security Management Network to review policies, practices, budget, and resource-related issues pertaining to the United Nations Security Management System that work to improve the efficiency of security risk management.

The consultant is responsible to the Senior Security Operations and Training Officer (SOTO) for the development and implementation of the Department’s marketing and communication strategy agency-wide. The consultant reports directly to the DSRM Senior Security Operations and Training Officer.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinates, designs and develops the publication and marketing of the Department’s, newsletters, social media posts, SharePoint site, annual report, case studies, and other marketing collateral
• In coordination with the Senior Security Operations and Training Officer develops a marketing strategy; liaises with field office staff to develop advertising materials for marketing the Department’s security risk management activities and products.
• Develops, in coordination with the Senior Security Operations and Training Officer, the DSRM communication strategy and publication planning cycle.
• Supports Field Security Risk Management units to produce well-presented and effective publications and other knowledge products to communicate key issues.
• Coordinates market research activities with the DSRM team;
• Maintains, solicits and updates information, case studies, news stories, information links, photographs and SRM events for posting on the UNRWA SharePoint site.
• Develops and manage an annual marketing work plan with the needed budget in all areas of DSRM operations to ensure the realization of opportunities in a timely manner.
• Measures the effectiveness of marketing campaigns against online and offline KPIs and continuously optimizes campaigns
• Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• A university degree from an accredited educational institution in management, business, marketing, advertising or related discipline


WORK EXPERIENCES:

• At least 4 years of work experience in business development, communications, marketing, advertising, and/or relationship management in an organization producing high-quality marketing or communications material.

• Experience in creating awareness campaigns in the humanitarian field is an asset

• Experience in developing and maintaining website content, including SharePoint. Experience and passion for digital communications - social media, graphic design, video production, etc.


COMPETENCIES:

• Excellent skills in utilizing MS Office applications; as well as design tools, such as Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.
• Comprehensive understanding of business development, marketing, advertising, and relationship management with experience and abilities in web-based marketing and communication;
• Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic with the ability to write, copy-read and proofread documents, articles and marketing and advertising material;
• Creative and artistic flair for design work combined with the ability to innovate.


CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

• The duration of the consultancy is 6 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
• This consultancy will be equivalent to grade 14 (monthly salary of 919.81 JOD).

Languages

• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic is required, including a flare for writing and communication

Additional Information

• Able to translate complex knowledge and concepts into creative multimedia, for diverse audiences, with specific objectives and KPIs
• Experience in developing and maintaining website content, including SharePoint. Experience and passion for digital communications - social media, graphic design, video production, etc.
• The consultant may be required to use UNRWA vehicles and should be in possession of a valid driving license.
