Mission and objectives

The United Nations Development Programme, Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) has the responsibility for developing all relevant policy and guidance to support the results of UNDP’s Strategic Plan. BPPS’s staff provides technical advice to Country Offices; advocates for UNDP corporate messages, represents UNDP at multi-stakeholder fora including public-private dialogues, government and civil society dialogues, South-South and Triangular cooperation initiatives, and engages in UN inter-agency coordination in specific thematic areas. BPPS works closely with UNDP’s Crisis Response Unit (CRU) to support emergency and crisis response. BPPS ensures that issues of risk are fully integrated into UNDP’s development programmes. BPPS assists UNDP and partners to achieve higher quality development results through an integrated approach that links results based management and performance monitoring with more effective and new ways of working. BPPS supports UNDP and partners to be more innovative, knowledge and data driven including in its programme support efforts.


The Gender Equality Seal for public institutions is a global initiative that celebrates public institutions and governments striving to be more inclusive and working to create societies where women and men have equal opportunities. This involves integrating gender concerns across all aspects of their work and delivering public policies and services for all. As public institutions embark on a journey towards gender equality excellence, the Gender Equality Seal measures their progress against internationally validated standards. It also supports them every step of the way, offering innovative tools and tailored guidance. We work with national, regional and local public institutions and our services are available in several languages. Upon completion of the programme, a participating institution will be recognized internationally with a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Seal demonstrating its progress towards gender equality. It will also be seen as a dynamic and enterprising organization that values equality. For more information see:

Task description

Overall purpose of the task: Creating a Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions dashboard using interactive, data visualisations (powerbi / JavaScript, TypeScript, D3 and React.js) Specific activities: • Use excel tables that systematize the compliance of Public Institutions' baselines with the Seal benchmarks (data in excels will be provided) • Produce graphs and data visualisations that show: i) overall Public Institutions' baselines performance and by dimension; ii) performance by country and area of work of public institutions • Present visual concepts and ideas in a compelling and attractive manner • Research, identify, and test tools to support analysis of various data sources • Generate infographics to support the programme • Create branding material and engaging visual products in accordance with UN design standards and policies
