The Senior Technical Specialist (Safeguarding) role sits within the Technical Team at SDDirect, a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. It is a senior-level technical leadership role in a leading international consultancy and research organisation in the field of social development. The role will be a permanent position.
This position will play a key role in a senior staff consultant position with the SDDirect Technical Team delivering technical work across our safeguarding portfolio and beyond. This will include desk-based and in-country work, such as supporting programme design and providing technical assistance.
This is an exciting opportunity to recruit a Safeguarding Senior Technical Specialist (STS) to support work across the portfolio. We are seeking candidates who will thrive in a smaller, specialist consultancy organisation in the international development sector. Person Specfication
Essential
· A university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. international development, politics, political economy, human rights, public administration, public policy, sociology, gender studies, etc.) or equivalent
· Relevant experience (at least 7 years) with some international/overseas experience) related to safeguarding in developing countries, working with multilateral, bilateral or non-governmental development organisations
· Strong understanding of safeguarding, gender equality and social inclusion issues
· Experience in implementing international development contracts on behalf of a multilateral or bilateral organisations
· Experience in providing capacity development support to a range of audiences on safeguarding
· Excellent written, verbal and presentational skills and an ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
· Demonstrated analytical skills
· A clear commitment to human rights, gender equality and social justice
· A self-starter and strong team player
· Fluency in written and spoken English
Ability to travel internationally and to work legally in the UK
Desirable
· Experience of case handling and investigations
· Relevant skills and experience working in one or more of the following thematic areas:
o Green Economies and Infrastructure
o Governance and inclusive services
o Security, justice and peace-building
o Gender-Based Violence
· Experience of working in a consultancy role or as an employee of a donor agency, development finance institution or multilateral development organisation
· Good public speaking, networking and representational skills
· Group and process facilitation skills
Fluency in other languages spoken in Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East/North Africa and/or South Asia

This is envisaged as a UK-based role. Preference will be given to candidates with eligibility to work in the UK. Our London Head Office works on a hybrid basis – we are open to flexible working. Non-UK based candidates may also apply and will be considered. |
