The Role

At Last Mile Health (LMH), we are in this together. Do you have experience working with District Community Health Coordinators (DCHC), and a desire to support programming in Nsanje/Chikwawa DHO? If so, you may be an excellent Community Health Worker (CHW) Training and Supervision Coordinator. 

LMH has partnered with the Ministry Of Health (MoH) through the Community Health Services Sections (CHSS) and Digital Health Division (DHD) to implement the community health program in line with the National Community Health Strategy (2017 - 2021) and the Digital Health Strategy (2020-2025). 

As part of streamlining, harmonizing, and integrating community health service delivery, the MoH is implementing iCHIS that will be rolled out to all community health workers across the 29 health districts. LMH is working with the MoH to support implementation of iCHIS in three districts of Salima, Machinga and Balaka to ensure a strengthened and robust community health system is in place to offer both routine community health services as well as much needed digitized service delivery at community level. 

This contracted role is only open to candidates who live in Nsanje/Chikwawa districts
 

Project Details:

  • Commitment – 6 months at 40 hours per week
  • Location – Nsanje/Chikwawa districts
  • Reports to- District Community Health Coordinator (DCHC) and LMH Senior Technical Coordinator

What You'll Do

  • Facilitate meetings with DHMT members to agree on the CHW training and supervision work plan. 
  • In liaison with the District Community Health Coordinators (DCHC) for Nsanje and Chikwawa districts, develop a Community Based Maternal Newborn Care (CMBNC)  and Community Structures training schedule and supervision plan. 
  • Collate a database of trainees, their designation, dates of training and other relevant information for training participants. 
  • Collaborate with District Community Health Coordinators (DCHCs) and other coordinators to design a supervision plan for Nsanje and Chikwawa districts.
  • Coordinate supervision feedback meetings with the DCHC and other coordinators to review supervision observations and design quality improvement plans.
  • Undertake visits to selected CHWs to document impact of training and supervision.
  • Represent LMH at District Executive Committees (DEC) meetings and periodically make presentations of LMH key deliverables.
  • Undertake financial and administrative functions as per LMH and MoH policies
  • Submit monthly reports to the DCHC and LMH Senior Technical Coordinator.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned from time to time

What You’ll Bring

  • Diploma or Degree in Community Health/Community Health Nursing/Nursing Education/Reproductive Health/Nursing Education from a recognized and registered institution of higher learning
  • Additional training in Essential Health Package (EHP),  Community Based Maternal and Child Health (CBMNC), integrated supervision, and training facilitation skills and documentation is an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in the use of CBMNC training materials to Community Health Workers (CHWs) as well as supervision tools and dynamics is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency in word, excel, powerpoint presentation etc.
  • Training organization, documentation, and reporting. 
  • Coordination abilities with DHMT members, program coordinators and orienting them on LMH project goals. 
  • More than 3 years’ working experience in an NGO set up.

You’ll Impress Us If

  •  Previous and/or current experience working in Nsanje/Chikwawa districts. Prior working experience in the health sector and currently based in these districts is an advantage.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle and possess a motorcycle riding licence.
