Org. Setting and Reporting
Is responsible to the Area Sanitation Officer for technical matters and to the Camp and Community Services Officer for administrative matters.
The incumbent supervises a range of GS staff.
• Supervises sanitation and other Laborers, maintains and controls their attendance and leave, and prepares statistical and narrative reports.
•Supervises water distribution, maintenance water networks, water disinfection and collects water samples for bacteriological examination.
•Supervises liquid and solid water collection, loading and removal and maintenance of sewers and drains, directs refuse vehicles.
•Inspects gathering surfaces and breeding places of insects, carries out necessary surveys and supervises insect and rodent control activities.
•Inspects and reports on cleanliness in camp and its installations.
•Assists in health education for the laborers and camp inhabitants.
•Receives, keeps and controls sanitation tools, supplies and equipment.
•Supervises sanitation self-help camp improvements projects.
•Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

- Completion of full secondary education.

Two-year course in environmental health/public health from a recognized college or institute.
Two years’ experience in environmental health/public health is required.

* Conditions of service
-Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment
- Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.
Monthly basic salary USD 812.80 , payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate, plus Supplementary Allowance (SPLA) of 39% of basic salary.
Other benefits include:
•Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency).

•30 days of annual leave.

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, the Director of Human Resources may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications and progressive relevant work experience.
NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
